Customer Attributes | BG_057

Customer Attributes are additional pieces of information that can be assigned to customers, should that information not be available elsewhere. For example, you may require information on a Customer's job title. If this isn't available elsewhere in the customer inputs, then a Customer Attribute could be created named "Job Title". A unique value could then be defined for each customer related to this Customer Attribute.

Customer

00:00:06:00 - 00:00:09:16
attributes are additional pieces
of information that can be assigned to

00:00:09:16 - 00:00:14:01
customers should that information
not be available elsewhere.

00:00:14:03 - 00:00:18:04
For example, you may require information
on a customer's job title.

00:00:18:06 - 00:00:21:06
If this isn't available elsewhere
in the customer inputs,

00:00:21:13 - 00:00:25:11
then a customer attribute could be created
named job title.

00:00:25:14 - 00:00:28:11
The unique value could
then be defined for each customer

00:00:28:11 - 00:00:32:13
related to this customer attribute.

00:00:32:16 - 00:00:35:06
So we'll start off by navigating
to the distinct area

00:00:35:06 - 00:00:40:06
of Infigo containing customer attributes.

00:00:40:09 - 00:00:42:08
So this is under additional customer

00:00:42:08 - 00:00:46:20
attributes.

00:00:46:23 - 00:00:49:00
So let's go ahead and click
Add new record.

00:00:49:00 - 00:00:52:11
That adds a new line to this table here

00:00:52:14 - 00:00:55:25
where we can start
by adding a new attribute name.

00:00:55:28 - 00:00:58:28
It won't accept entries in here
that include spaces.

00:00:59:01 - 00:01:02:17
So if we go for something
like sample customer attributes

00:01:02:19 - 00:01:05:05
course
you can name that whatever you like.

00:01:05:08 - 00:01:07:04
And then going further to the right hand
side,

00:01:07:04 - 00:01:11:12
we have a few additional options
that we can specify.

00:01:11:14 - 00:01:13:28
So we'll focus on a couple of these show.

00:01:13:28 - 00:01:17:25
My account will display the attributes
in the customer's my account area

00:01:17:25 - 00:01:21:06
for them to view and then edit my account

00:01:21:08 - 00:01:24:23
will allow them to modify the field
from within their My account area.

00:01:24:23 - 00:01:27:29
So these are both customer facing.

00:01:28:02 - 00:01:29:11
Once complete, I can go ahead

00:01:29:11 - 00:01:33:23
and click insert

00:01:33:25 - 00:01:34:19
and that's it.

00:01:34:19 - 00:01:37:11
The attribute is now created.

00:01:37:11 - 00:01:40:16
Next, we'll take a look
at how to manually assign a value

00:01:40:19 - 00:01:45:01
for this customer attribute
on a specific customer's account.

00:01:45:03 - 00:01:48:18
So we start by navigating to where
all of our customer information is listed.

00:01:48:18 - 00:01:56:12
So customer management

00:01:56:14 - 00:02:02:22
create or edit a customer.

00:02:02:24 - 00:02:05:24
And then once you're in here,
you'll see that there's an additional tab

00:02:05:24 - 00:02:13:14
at the end here,
which is additional attributes.

00:02:13:16 - 00:02:14:19
The customer attribute

00:02:14:19 - 00:02:17:19
that you created will be displayed
automatically

00:02:17:22 - 00:02:21:20
but will currently not
have a value associated with it.

00:02:21:23 - 00:02:24:13
We can amend the value
associated with this attribute

00:02:24:13 - 00:02:28:16
for this particular customer
by clicking, edit

00:02:28:19 - 00:02:35:06
and entering that value

00:02:35:09 - 00:02:35:17
once.

00:02:35:17 - 00:02:39:07
Don't click on update.

00:02:39:09 - 00:02:42:09
Make sure you save that before continuing

00:02:42:13 - 00:02:43:18
the next.

00:02:43:18 - 00:02:46:28
Let's take a look at how the customer
would see this on the front end

00:02:46:28 - 00:02:49:28
with that specific configuration
of settings.

00:02:50:02 - 00:02:52:19
So log in as or impersonate

00:02:52:19 - 00:02:56:27
that particular customer
for which you've created the attribute

00:02:56:29 - 00:03:08:06
and then navigate to their
my accounts area.

00:03:08:08 - 00:03:08:24
The customer

00:03:08:24 - 00:03:13:11
attributes information will be detailed
under the additional information section,

00:03:13:13 - 00:03:19:04
which will appear at the bottom of
the screen, and you can see that given the

00:03:19:07 - 00:03:21:15
arrangement of settings that I specified

00:03:21:15 - 00:03:24:25
for this particular attribute,
I have the ability to both view

00:03:24:25 - 00:03:28:05
and to modify this
from a customer side of things.
