Delivery (Shipping) Methods

Infigo Academy: Delivery / shipping options - the basics

Overview

A delivery method is the user-facing side of how Infigo handles delivery. When a customer is in the 'Delivery Method' stage of checkout, they will choose one of the methods configured here, and the cost of the delivery will be handled by the 'Delivery Rate Computation' configuration against the delivery method.

As delivery methods do not handle any of the calculations, and are simply what the customer will see in checkout, they are fairly simple to configure.

Step One

Sign in to your storefront using a storefront administrator account and navigate to the admin side of the storefront.

From here, use the sidebar menu to navigate to Configuration -> Delivery -> Delivery Methods.

On this page, you will see a list of all of your configured delivery methods. If you have not configured any, then this list will be empty.

To add a delivery method, simply click the 'Add New' button in the top-right hand corner of the page (highlighted below).

After clicking 'Add New' you will be redirected to the configuration page for the new delivery method. As you can see in the screenshot below, there are not many fields which need to be configured.

Below is an explanation of what each field is:

Standard, English, Deutsch, Spanish, Français, Bulgarian:

These tabs allow you to provide alternative languages for the name and description of the delivery method. If you have multiple languages enabled on your storefront, these tabs will populate with each language and if your user has selected one, they will see the name and description provided in the appropriate tab.

If there is nothing provided in the alternate tabs, then the text in the 'Standard' tab will be used.

Name:

This is the name of the delivery method and will appear below the delivery icon in checkout, and next to the price, allowing the user to identify what the method is. We recommend you use a simple and concise method to ensure that your users understand which method is which.

Description:

This description will appear above the delivery icon in the checkout and allows you to provide a bit more information on what the method is. As with the name, we recommend keeping this simple and concise.

Display Order:

The display order controls the order in which the delivery methods will load within checkout. The lower the method's display order number is, the sooner it will be loaded.

For example, if you were to configure delivery method A to have a display order of 0, and delivery method B with a display order of 1, then delivery method A will always load before delivery method B. However, if you were to give delivery method C a display order of -1, then delivery method C will load before both A and B.

Once you have configured the settings listed above, simply click 'Save' and your delivery method will be created. You will now see this in the list accessed by navigating to Configuration -> Delivery -> Delivery Methods. You can edit these settings at any time by simply clicking 'Edit' next to your delivery method.

You can see how your delivery method appears to a front-end user simply by navigating to the front-end of your storefront, adding something to your basket, and navigating to the 'Delivery Method' stage of the checkout:delivery_front-end.png
