00:00:06:22 - 00:00:07:01
In this

00:00:07:01 - 00:00:10:16
tutorial, we're going to take a look
at configuring quantity attributes.

00:00:11:04 - 00:00:13:19
Now these are a very different way
of thinking about

00:00:13:19 - 00:00:16:23
the traditional attributes
that you would have on your products.

00:00:17:07 - 00:00:18:21
So traditionally for something

00:00:18:21 - 00:00:22:08
like the example we've got here,
which is a garment with different sizes,

00:00:22:18 - 00:00:25:28
you would have those different sizes
available in one attribute

00:00:25:28 - 00:00:29:02
with a few different options
of small, medium and large.

00:00:29:24 - 00:00:33:13
What we've got in this particular
case is a garment with three completely

00:00:33:13 - 00:00:38:14
separate attributes, which are themselves
those individual attribute options.

00:00:38:15 - 00:00:41:00
So small, medium and large ones.

00:00:41:00 - 00:00:44:21
In there we can apply a quantity
to each of those selections.

00:00:45:01 - 00:00:47:23
And then once those have been added
to a basket you see that

00:00:47:23 - 00:00:51:27
they all get added to the basket
as a single order quantity in the cart.

00:00:53:14 - 00:00:53:21
It's in

00:00:53:21 - 00:00:56:21
a single entry within the actual basket
itself.

00:00:56:21 - 00:00:57:05
You can see

00:00:57:05 - 00:01:00:09
the breakdown of the different sizes
we've got from our different attributes.

00:01:00:21 - 00:01:04:24
And then it's summed those quantities
that we've specified.

00:01:04:24 - 00:01:08:23
So we can see our total quantity is 30
and the total price is being considered

00:01:08:23 - 00:01:11:23
accordingly.

00:01:13:20 - 00:01:16:20
Now let's take a look
at how to actually set this up.

00:01:17:06 - 00:01:20:06
So the first thing we actually need to do
is to create

00:01:20:20 - 00:01:24:14
or edit some product attributes
to be the correct type.

00:01:25:06 - 00:01:28:06
Now if I go to

00:01:28:09 - 00:01:31:10
my catalog section attributes

00:01:31:24 - 00:01:34:24
and then product attributes.

00:01:36:23 - 00:01:38:20
Now we can create brand new attributes.

00:01:38:20 - 00:01:40:28
Or I can just go and modify
some existing ones.

00:01:40:28 - 00:01:45:02
So I'll select one of the ones we've got
on our example product and go to edit.

00:01:49:19 - 00:01:51:23
Now in order to actually

00:01:51:23 - 00:01:55:05
enable this particular feature
we need to use this setting here,

00:01:55:05 - 00:01:57:05
which is the attribute link

00:01:57:05 - 00:01:59:29
if I go to the little tooltip
you'll see that says Establish

00:01:59:29 - 00:02:03:28
what the property of the job with this
attribute value will control quantity.

00:02:03:28 - 00:02:06:19
Link can only have the following
attribute control types.

00:02:06:19 - 00:02:09:19
So dropdown list, radio list and number.

00:02:10:01 - 00:02:13:27
So the reason for those different control
types, as we'll see later on, is that

00:02:13:27 - 00:02:18:22
we are entering a specific numerical value
in here as we saw in our example.

00:02:19:01 - 00:02:22:14
So we need to make sure that those are
the only inputs we can put in.

00:02:22:22 - 00:02:25:22
And those are the relevant types
that we have that.

00:02:26:03 - 00:02:30:08
So in order to actually enable this
by default this is on the default option.

00:02:30:23 - 00:02:33:24
But any attributes
which need to match this functionality.

00:02:34:00 - 00:02:37:03
Change that to
quantity and then click save.

00:02:42:07 - 00:02:44:16
Once we've
created all of our relevant attributes,

00:02:44:16 - 00:02:48:27
we navigate to the actual product details
page itself or the product in question,

00:02:49:10 - 00:02:52:10
and then navigate to the Product Variance
settings.

00:02:54:04 - 00:02:56:14
I'm then going to go
to the attributes tab.

00:02:56:14 - 00:02:59:24
Now I'm not going to cover attributes
in a great amount of detail in here.

00:03:00:10 - 00:03:04:16
There are other contents on the Infigo
Academy which cover it in more detail.

00:03:04:17 - 00:03:08:21
Now you can see in my case
that I've added our three attributes here.

00:03:08:22 - 00:03:12:14
If I want to add some additional ones,
I can just click on Add New Record.

00:03:13:12 - 00:03:16:12
Then we want to select the control type

00:03:16:15 - 00:03:19:15
that is relevant for our particular

00:03:20:14 - 00:03:22:09
scenario that we're trying to consider.

00:03:22:09 - 00:03:26:03
So remember that the only control type
for our to utilize our number

00:03:27:26 - 00:03:28:28
I go and edit.

00:03:28:28 - 00:03:29:22
We can change that.

00:03:29:22 - 00:03:32:28
We can also have dropdown list
and we can have radio buttons.

00:03:33:08 - 00:03:37:12
So because we've changed that setting
within the attribute we did previously,

00:03:37:19 - 00:03:40:19
these are the only options
that we have available to us.

00:03:41:19 - 00:03:44:19
So let's make one each of those
just so we can see

00:03:45:01 - 00:03:47:25
what that does.

00:03:47:25 - 00:03:51:21
Now you'll see for the number option
we don't have the ability to configure it

00:03:51:21 - 00:03:55:04
any further because that is just
going to present us with a

00:03:55:15 - 00:03:59:19
a numerical input box where we're actually
specifying the value that we want.

00:04:00:15 - 00:04:03:26
If, however, we have the dropdown list
or the radio button list, we're going

00:04:03:26 - 00:04:07:07
to want to specify additional values
that we want to available in there.

00:04:07:29 - 00:04:12:06
So for example in my small options here
you can see I've got one five and ten

00:04:12:16 - 00:04:13:09
or specific

00:04:14:13 - 00:04:16:06
selectable quantities.

00:04:16:06 - 00:04:20:02
If you do want to utilize
a number control, which is that numerical

00:04:20:02 - 00:04:24:11
input box, then it's a good idea
to specify default values.

00:04:24:11 - 00:04:27:24
Minimum values, and maximum values within.

00:04:27:25 - 00:04:31:02
But what people can actually put
within that numerical input box.

00:04:31:19 - 00:04:34:27
So if I go back to the info
tab and scroll down,

00:04:36:05 - 00:04:38:03
you can see here
we have a section for that

00:04:38:03 - 00:04:41:03
kind of information.

00:04:43:22 - 00:04:44:02
Okay.

00:04:44:02 - 00:04:47:02
So with this information
input I'm going to click save

00:04:47:23 - 00:04:50:23
and then view that particular product.

00:04:52:23 - 00:04:55:21
You can see now
that I've got a few different entry types

00:04:55:21 - 00:04:57:00
based on what I've selected. So

00:04:57:00 - 00:05:00:22
my small is a dropdown which is giving me
a few options that we've specified.

00:05:01:11 - 00:05:05:09
I've got my radio buttons
and I've got my numerical inputs,

00:05:06:13 - 00:05:08:00
which in my case

00:05:08:00 - 00:05:11:19
only allows me to do quantities of five
because that is how I've specified it.

00:05:19:22 - 00:05:22:22
I can add those to basket.

00:05:23:16 - 00:05:26:05
And then we can see
the resulting entry in the cart.

00:05:26:05 - 00:05:28:04
And now we can
proceed through to checkout.

Scenario 1: Configuring Quantity Attributes

Problem

You need to allow customers to select different quantities for different variations of the same product (e.g., Small, Medium, Large garments) while ensuring these selections are treated as a single order quantity in the cart.

Solution

  1. Navigate to the Admin Panel > Catalogue > Attributes > Product Attributes section.
  2. Create a new attribute or edit an existing one. These attributes will refer to the variation themselves. So for our example, we would have three attributes “Small”, “Medium” and “Large”.
  3. Set the Attribute Link to "Quantity."
    • Note: Only Dropdown, Radio, and Number control types are supported.
  4. Assign the quantity attributes to a product.
  5. Configure values in each of these attributes:
    • This can be done either within the Product Attribute Values section (Admin > Catalogue > Attributes > Product Attribute Values) if you wish to define values globally, or on attributes individually assigned to products.
      • For attributes intended as Dropdown or Radio controls, ensure all values are positive integers.
      • For Number controls, specify a default value, minimum value, maximum value, and step value. These are controlled within the main product restrictions (Product Variant Settings > Info Tab).
  6. Test in the storefront to ensure the correct quantity selection interface appears.

6. FAQs

Q1: Why can’t I hide or change the requirements for quantity attributes?
A1: Quantity attributes must remain visible and required to ensure accurate order quantities and integration consistency.

Q2: Which control types can be used for quantity attributes?
A2: Only Dropdown, Radio, and Number controls are allowed for quantity attributes.

Q3: How is the Tharstern integration affected by quantity attributes?
