Adding attributes to products | BG_014

In this tutorial, we will look at Product Attributes. We will learn what they are and how to define and use them within the Infigo software. Product Attributes allow you to specify options, add-ons, and features to products. Examples of Attributes within the web to print market include things like: Lamination, Product Colour, Bubble Wrap packing, Paper Stock, Allowing your users to Upload their artwork or media files etc. These can be specified to add cost to the product, or to flag up a feature to the printer once the order is placed.

00:00:13:03 - 00:00:13:11
So in

00:00:13:11 - 00:00:17:29
this tutorial we'll take a look at product
attributes, will learn what they are

00:00:18:14 - 00:00:22:02
and how to define them
and use them within the Infigo software.

00:00:23:20 - 00:00:26:27
So a short description
on what product attributes are they?

00:00:26:27 - 00:00:31:27
Allow you to specify options, add ons
and features to your products.

00:00:32:21 - 00:00:35:29
So thinking in the what to market.

00:00:36:06 - 00:00:38:29
Examples of attributes
that might be relevant to things like

00:00:39:18 - 00:00:43:20
the ability to put on lamination,
the product color,

00:00:44:19 - 00:00:46:29
bubble wrap, packaging, paper, stock.

00:00:47:20 - 00:00:51:10
If you want to allow your users
to upload their artwork or media files.

00:00:52:06 - 00:00:54:15
The possibilities are

00:00:55:06 - 00:00:57:00
endless, really.

00:00:57:00 - 00:01:00:28
So these can be specified
to add cost to the product.

00:01:01:06 - 00:01:04:16
If they need to do so
or to flag up a feature to the printer.

00:01:04:25 - 00:01:08:07
Once an order is placed.

00:01:08:24 - 00:01:13:14
So in order to do this, we first need
to navigate to our product attributes.

00:01:13:14 - 00:01:17:22
We need to actually create the attributes
independently of a product to begin with.

00:01:18:16 - 00:01:19:23
So if we go to catalog,

00:01:20:21 - 00:01:23:04
there's
an attribute section in the catalog

00:01:24:00 - 00:01:27:10
and then product attributes.

00:01:29:10 - 00:01:31:20
Now you'll see this contains a list

00:01:31:20 - 00:01:35:14
of all of the product attributes we have
on our currently selected storefront.

00:01:35:29 - 00:01:38:01
At the moment, there isn't any.

00:01:38:01 - 00:01:41:16
So we're going to go to add new.

00:01:44:00 - 00:01:47:00
So this screen allows us to put a

00:01:47:00 - 00:01:51:09
few bits of descriptive information
related to our product attribute.

00:01:52:11 - 00:01:54:24
We're not putting a lot of information
in here at the moment.

00:01:54:24 - 00:01:57:04
We are just putting
some descriptive information

00:01:57:13 - 00:01:59:24
such as on one which is critical

00:02:00:05 - 00:02:03:09
is the attribute name.

00:02:03:09 - 00:02:05:12
So I'm just going to put something
like product color

00:02:10:27 - 00:02:13:10
and then save.

00:02:14:29 - 00:02:16:26
You'll see that attribute is now listed

00:02:16:26 - 00:02:20:07
in the product attribute screen.

00:02:20:21 - 00:02:23:10
So next, we're going to actually

00:02:23:10 - 00:02:25:22
define that attribute

00:02:25:22 - 00:02:28:06
or link that attribute
to one of our products.

00:02:28:22 - 00:02:30:27
So if I go to our product catalog,

00:02:31:12 - 00:02:34:19
product management screen, I'm

00:02:34:19 - 00:02:38:27
going to find the product that I want
to associate this attribute with.

00:02:39:07 - 00:02:41:03
So I'll just go for the first product

00:02:41:03 - 00:02:43:25
that we've created
throughout this video series.

00:02:44:21 - 00:02:46:08
And then I'm going to navigate
to the product

00:02:46:08 - 00:02:49:15
variant settings, and that's
where we put on the attribute data.

00:02:50:02 - 00:02:52:21
So you can get to it by going through edit

00:02:53:13 - 00:02:57:14
The easiest way to get to it is
by clicking on the little plus icon here.

00:02:58:14 - 00:02:59:12
The product

00:02:59:12 - 00:03:01:28
variance information
is listed in this table here

00:03:02:12 - 00:03:06:04
and we click edit over on the right hand
side.

00:03:07:22 - 00:03:10:10
Now we've covered some of this
in previous videos

00:03:10:10 - 00:03:13:12
and other videos in these series.

00:03:13:12 - 00:03:15:16
One tab we haven't covered so far

00:03:15:16 - 00:03:18:22
is the Attributes Tab.

00:03:22:02 - 00:03:23:23
So this was all of the attributes

00:03:23:23 - 00:03:26:26
that are currently defined
to the selected product.

00:03:27:09 - 00:03:29:09
And you'll see at the moment
there isn't any.

00:03:29:09 - 00:03:32:13
But if we go and add new record,

00:03:32:13 - 00:03:33:23
a new

00:03:34:05 - 00:03:36:20
row appears in this little table here.

00:03:37:06 - 00:03:40:13
And the first option we have
is the ability to choose the attribute

00:03:40:13 - 00:03:42:23
that we want to link to this product.

00:03:42:23 - 00:03:46:09
And the only one we have
is the only attribute that we created

00:03:46:15 - 00:03:50:25
at the separate attribute screen.

00:03:55:16 - 00:03:55:29
Okay.

00:03:55:29 - 00:04:04:23
We also have a product landing label.

00:04:04:23 - 00:04:07:00
We specify whether or not this is required

00:04:08:03 - 00:04:08:19
and we can

00:04:08:19 - 00:04:11:09
specify
between a few different control types.

00:04:11:21 - 00:04:15:22
So for example, you've got a dropdown list
which is this essentially

00:04:15:23 - 00:04:16:25
might be all standard.

00:04:16:25 - 00:04:18:23
Want to go to

00:04:19:07 - 00:04:23:05
radio buttons, checklists,
various other pieces of information

00:04:23:21 - 00:04:27:22
depending on what it is that you want to,
what information

00:04:27:22 - 00:04:31:19
you want to get from your customers.

00:04:32:19 - 00:04:34:28
You also have the ability
to control the display order.

00:04:34:28 - 00:04:38:21
So if you want to show
if you've got multiple

00:04:39:11 - 00:04:42:01
attributes on one product
and you want to control which way

00:04:42:01 - 00:04:44:07
they are ordered,
you can control the display order.

00:04:45:02 - 00:04:48:13
And if you want to temporarily
disable this or just make sure

00:04:48:13 - 00:04:52:05
it's not visible to our customers,
we can hide customer

00:04:52:17 - 00:04:55:10
hide from customer.

00:04:55:28 - 00:05:00:17
With that information input,
I can click insert.

00:05:00:17 - 00:05:04:29
And now you see
we get a little bit more information here

00:05:05:26 - 00:05:08:03
underneath the values

00:05:08:03 - 00:05:12:08
field which is saying view,
size, edit values, total zero.

00:05:12:20 - 00:05:15:10
And this is where we start
inputting information

00:05:15:18 - 00:05:18:12
as to the options
that are associated with the attributes.

00:05:19:06 - 00:05:21:15
So for example, here
we're looking at product color.

00:05:21:27 - 00:05:25:09
So we might have values within product
which is like red,

00:05:25:09 - 00:05:29:07
blue, green, whatever you need.

00:05:34:12 - 00:05:34:23
So what I'm

00:05:34:23 - 00:05:37:13
going to do is click on that option that,

00:05:38:07 - 00:05:39:26
that loads up

00:05:40:15 - 00:05:42:18
our values for product

00:05:42:18 - 00:05:46:18
cover, add new value.

00:05:47:21 - 00:05:50:21
We get a separate screen
loading up where there's some information

00:05:50:21 - 00:05:52:02
that we can input.

00:05:52:02 - 00:05:55:22
And this includes information
like weight adjustments,

00:05:57:04 - 00:05:59:14
price adjustments

00:06:01:05 - 00:06:04:28
and some descriptive information.

00:06:06:13 - 00:06:07:28
So we'll keep it quite simple here.

00:06:07:28 - 00:06:10:06
We're going to create three attributes.

00:06:10:06 - 00:06:12:13
We're going to create red, blue and gold.

00:06:13:06 - 00:06:15:26
Red and blue
are just going to be the default pricing,

00:06:16:18 - 00:06:19:06
and gold will put a mark on the price.

00:06:20:28 - 00:06:23:11
So we could put all

00:06:23:11 - 00:06:26:09
the information in here that we like
will keep this nice and simple

00:06:26:13 - 00:06:28:14
with red and save

00:06:30:03 - 00:06:32:03
add new value

00:06:33:27 - 00:06:36:02
blue and save

00:06:38:21 - 00:06:40:20
add new value

00:06:40:27 - 00:06:41:22
gold.

00:06:41:27 - 00:06:44:05
Remember this time
we want a markup on the price.

00:06:44:05 - 00:06:47:13
So I'm going to look
for those particular options.

00:06:48:06 - 00:06:49:17
So I've got price down here.

00:06:51:00 - 00:06:53:11
So I could say, for example, my price
adjustment

00:06:53:12 - 00:06:56:05
type is going to be percentage
rather than absolute.

00:06:57:09 - 00:07:00:24
And I'll say I want a 5%

00:07:00:24 - 00:07:02:00
increase

00:07:04:15 - 00:07:05:23
and then say

00:07:07:01 - 00:07:09:10
all that information is now listed

00:07:09:10 - 00:07:15:02
on our attribute section,

00:07:15:02 - 00:07:18:04
and that should now
be actually saved with our products.

00:07:18:16 - 00:07:22:00
So we can go ahead and view the product
on our storefront now.

00:07:22:20 - 00:07:24:29
So I'm going to go back to the product
variant details

00:07:25:29 - 00:07:32:15
and hit view product page.

00:07:32:15 - 00:07:35:07
And then you can see we have Select Color

00:07:36:13 - 00:07:38:21
and then we have a range of dropdown
options

00:07:38:21 - 00:07:43:10
and goals, has a 5% markup.

00:07:43:11 - 00:07:50:14
You'll see that I click that it
automatically changes the cost calculated.

00:07:50:14 - 00:08:00:22
And then if I add to basket,
that's the cost that will be added.
