Variable Placeholders in Invent | IV_018

Several variables can be used within one frame as part of your Invent setup. For example, if creating a business card where most of the text is contained within one frame, then it is possible to use variable placeholders to dictate where a variable is used.

Several variables can be

00:00:10:00 - 00:00:13:07
used within one
frame as part of your Invent setup.

00:00:14:00 - 00:00:16:08
For example, if creating a business card

00:00:16:08 - 00:00:19:10
where most of the text is contained
within one frame,

00:00:20:15 - 00:00:23:25
then it's possible
to use variable placeholders to dictate

00:00:23:25 - 00:00:29:25
where a particular variable
is used within those frames.

00:00:31:15 - 00:00:33:00
So to start off with, select

00:00:33:00 - 00:00:35:21
the frame which contains
multiple pieces of information,

00:00:36:16 - 00:00:39:18
and you want to ensure
that that frame is dynamic.

00:00:39:18 - 00:00:43:28
So make sure it's enabled
under the Properties tab.

00:00:45:07 - 00:00:48:17
Next, you want to position your cursor
within the frame itself,

00:00:48:17 - 00:00:53:13
so you just double click to position
the cursor in the frame.

00:00:53:16 - 00:00:57:27
When inserted, the placeholder
will replicate the font and formatting

00:00:58:06 - 00:01:03:01
of the selected
or nearby text associated text.

00:01:04:08 - 00:01:07:23
When you've positioned your cursor
to go back to the Properties

00:01:07:23 - 00:01:12:03
tab on in Figo, you'll see that you've got
a slightly different user interface.

00:01:12:14 - 00:01:15:25
Is now saying
text selection options with a dropdown box

00:01:16:09 - 00:01:19:07
and this is where you can select
from your available variables.

00:01:19:07 - 00:01:22:11
You'll need to create your variables
first.

00:01:22:11 - 00:01:25:24
So that's the variable you want to place
within that particular box.

00:01:26:15 - 00:01:34:20
And click on Add.

00:01:34:20 - 00:01:37:22
So the place holder is then
inserted in the required format

00:01:38:03 - 00:01:40:22
and the original text
is now surplus to requirements.

00:01:40:22 - 00:01:45:00
Unless of course you want to keep that
in your final product

00:01:45:17 - 00:01:46:22
so I can just get rid of that

00:01:49:10 - 00:01:50:17
and you'll notice if I repeat

00:01:50:17 - 00:01:52:24
the process
with the next piece of information.

00:01:54:20 - 00:01:58:17
So again, I select the variable
I want to import and click add

00:01:58:29 - 00:02:01:28
it does it with the final formatting

00:02:02:07 - 00:02:05:09
of that particular text so you can see
if there's a difference in color there.

00:02:05:09 - 00:02:08:02
For example, if we import

00:02:08:02 - 00:02:11:10
For example, if we import

00:02:11:10 - 00:02:15:17
that template into MegaEdit to launch it
so we get something like this.

00:02:15:17 - 00:02:18:16
In our particular example,
we didn't have any default

00:02:19:07 - 00:02:23:06
entry or placeholder text defined,
so we're just seeing some blank space.

00:02:23:06 - 00:02:31:01
In our particular example,
as I fill in those variables

00:02:31:01 - 00:02:39:10
which are now appearing over
on the right hand side, the import

00:02:39:10 - 00:02:44:28
text will match the formatting of the font
of the defined placeholder variable.

00:02:44:28 - 00:02:48:20
You'll see that we've got a different
color between those two entries

00:02:48:28 - 00:02:52:14
and they're appearing in the same location
as the placeholders in our

00:02:52:14 - 00:03:00:02
original template.
