Checkout Attributes | BG_055

In this tutorial, you will learn how to add attributes to the checkout process. These attributes will appear in the basket before proceeding to checkout. Checkout attributes are useful when you would like customers to provide some more information about their order. For example: Allowing customers to add additional notes. This can be useful when a customer would like to tell you about a certain place to deliver their order or have any special requests.

00:00:05:15 - 00:00:05:24
In this

00:00:05:24 - 00:00:09:27
tutorial will learn how to add attributes
to the check out process.

00:00:10:00 - 00:00:14:27
These attributes will appear in a basket
before proceeding to checkout.

00:00:14:29 - 00:00:17:18
Checkout attributes are useful
when you'd like customers

00:00:17:18 - 00:00:20:12
to provide
some more information about their order.

00:00:20:12 - 00:00:23:29
For example, allowing customers
to add additional notes.

00:00:24:01 - 00:00:26:27
This can be useful
when a customer would like to tell you

00:00:26:27 - 00:00:29:27
about a certain place
to deliver their order, for example,

00:00:29:28 - 00:00:34:22
or if they have any special requests.

00:00:34:24 - 00:00:36:22
So we'll start off just by navigating

00:00:36:22 - 00:00:39:29
to the specific area in Infigo
that deals with checkout

00:00:39:29 - 00:00:46:05
attributes.

00:00:46:07 - 00:00:47:26
And what we're going to do within this

00:00:47:26 - 00:00:51:16
tutorial is create
three examples of checkout attributes

00:00:51:18 - 00:00:56:19
to provide a well-rounded understanding
of their creation and their capabilities.

00:00:56:21 - 00:01:00:07
Our first example will cover
delivery instructions,

00:01:00:09 - 00:01:03:28
so this will simply be a text box
where users can optionally enter

00:01:04:05 - 00:01:08:17
additional information
to include with their order.

00:01:08:19 - 00:01:09:18
So let's go ahead and

00:01:09:18 - 00:01:13:12
click on Add New on the checkout
attribute screen

00:01:13:14 - 00:01:15:13
that will open up a separate page
where you can put in

00:01:15:13 - 00:01:18:19
some information
about the checkout attribute.

00:01:18:22 - 00:01:28:02
It's going to put in a relevant name.

00:01:28:04 - 00:01:29:11
You can optionally enter

00:01:29:11 - 00:01:33:02
a text prompt and some help text.

00:01:33:05 - 00:01:35:24
So in terms of the text prompt,
this allows

00:01:35:24 - 00:01:39:25
for the customized name for an attribute
to be visible to the user.

00:01:39:27 - 00:01:42:28
And this is if you want it to differ
from the actual name field.

00:01:42:28 - 00:01:46:07
The help text will appear as a tool
tip style pop up

00:01:46:12 - 00:01:49:22
when an icon is hovered over
and we'll see this later on.

00:01:49:24 - 00:01:53:09
But we can enter the text
we want to show as part of that tooltip.

00:01:53:09 - 00:01:56:27
Next, we want to select a control type

00:01:56:29 - 00:02:01:13
so you can select between multiple
types of control based on the information

00:02:01:13 - 00:02:05:07
you wish your customers
to enter on that basket screen.

00:02:05:09 - 00:02:07:29
And we'll see a few other examples
of these in action.

00:02:07:29 - 00:02:10:25
On the other examples
we set up for something

00:02:10:25 - 00:02:15:19
like the delivery information,
we require a multi line text box

00:02:15:22 - 00:02:17:26
which will provide a large area of text

00:02:17:26 - 00:02:24:20
input for customers
to enter their own information.

00:02:24:22 - 00:02:27:28
Just as a side note,
you can also specify whether inputting

00:02:27:28 - 00:02:32:14
into this particular checkout
attribute is mandatory or optional.

00:02:32:16 - 00:02:38:24
Using this icon here.

00:02:38:26 - 00:02:40:02
Okay, so that's finished.

00:02:40:02 - 00:02:41:11
Let's go ahead and just click on

00:02:41:11 - 00:02:46:29
Save to take us back to the checkout
attribute screen.

00:02:47:01 - 00:02:49:20
Our next example will be to allow the user

00:02:49:20 - 00:02:52:20
to specify this as a gift item.

00:02:52:23 - 00:02:56:07
So this will take the form of a selectable
radio button

00:02:56:09 - 00:02:58:15
and it will just have yes and no options.

00:02:58:15 - 00:03:02:23
If yes is selected, then additional cost
will be applied to the order.

00:03:02:25 - 00:03:04:17
Now, of course,
those could be extrapolated

00:03:04:17 - 00:03:06:08
to numerous different purposes.

00:03:06:08 - 00:03:08:20
This is just an example.

00:03:08:20 - 00:03:11:17
So I'm going to
go ahead and click on Add New

00:03:11:19 - 00:03:13:02
again, apply a name to

00:03:13:02 - 00:03:20:13
this particular checkout attribute.

00:03:20:16 - 00:03:21:19
We can optionally apply

00:03:21:19 - 00:03:28:12
text prompts and help text again
if we wish to do so.

00:03:28:14 - 00:03:29:12
And then relevant

00:03:29:12 - 00:03:34:00
to this particular type of entry might be
a couple of the options down here.

00:03:34:02 - 00:03:38:06
So we've got a couple of additional
options on the checkout attributes.

00:03:38:09 - 00:03:41:06
So we have shippable product required.

00:03:41:06 - 00:03:45:28
So if this is selected all of the products
in the basket must be shippable

00:03:46:05 - 00:03:52:02
in order for this checkout attribute
to be to be displayed on the basket page.

00:03:52:04 - 00:03:54:23
And then we have a couple of options here
to do with tax.

00:03:54:23 - 00:03:58:11
So tax exempt
and then the selection of a tax category.

00:03:58:13 - 00:04:02:01
And this defines whether any costs
associated with this attribute

00:04:02:08 - 00:04:12:13
are subject to taxation and if so,
which tax categories are associated with

00:04:12:15 - 00:04:15:13
This example will define the control type

00:04:15:13 - 00:04:19:04
as a radio button list.

00:04:19:07 - 00:04:23:05
This along with a dropdown
which relies on the administrator pre

00:04:23:05 - 00:04:32:03
defining a series of attribute values
that the customer can select from.

00:04:32:05 - 00:04:35:12
Now, would you need to define
those attribute values on this tab here?

00:04:35:12 - 00:04:40:19
But before we can do so, we actually need
to save this checkout attribute.

00:04:40:21 - 00:04:48:19
And then once I've done that,
I can change tab.

00:04:48:21 - 00:04:49:12
So in here

00:04:49:12 - 00:04:53:07
we're inputting the different options
that we want our customers

00:04:53:07 - 00:04:56:22
to choose between
on this particular checkout attribute.

00:04:56:22 - 00:05:00:13
So remember, in this example,
it's just going to be a yes or no option,

00:05:00:15 - 00:05:06:03
and the yes option
will apply an additional cost.

00:05:06:05 - 00:05:07:17
If I just go ahead and add

00:05:07:17 - 00:05:10:25
a new checkout value
that will go to a separate screen

00:05:10:25 - 00:05:13:25
where we can input a few relevant
bits of information.

00:05:13:27 - 00:05:15:20
We've got the name of the option.

00:05:15:20 - 00:05:19:02
So yes, and then you'll see we've got some

00:05:19:05 - 00:05:21:01
various

00:05:21:01 - 00:05:23:13
bits of information where we can amend

00:05:23:13 - 00:05:27:08
the particular order based on
whether this is selected.

00:05:27:11 - 00:05:32:03
So for example, there's price adjustment
and weight adjustment and if necessary

00:05:32:03 - 00:05:36:23
you can change the production
and delivery offset as well.

00:05:36:26 - 00:05:41:23
In this case, we're just going to add
a new price and new an additional cost.

00:05:41:25 - 00:05:44:12
So I'll just put this as

00:05:44:12 - 00:05:48:23
an absolute value of five of whatever
my currency is.

00:05:48:25 - 00:05:54:08
Additionally, we could change that
to a percentage if that's more applicable.

00:05:54:11 - 00:05:56:19
And then click on Safe.

00:05:56:19 - 00:05:59:09
And I'm just going to create a second one,

00:05:59:09 - 00:06:02:04
which is a no option,

00:06:02:04 - 00:06:04:26
and this one will not result in any price
adjustment.

00:06:04:26 - 00:06:05:10
Okay.

00:06:05:10 - 00:06:11:18
Once those are input, I’m
just going to go ahead and click on Save.

00:06:11:20 - 00:06:14:09
Now, our final example of a checkout
attribute

00:06:14:09 - 00:06:18:04
will give your customer the ability
to choose a desired delivery date.

00:06:18:07 - 00:06:22:10
And this is something that will just be
there as a note on the order

00:06:22:13 - 00:06:24:17
in this particular example.

00:06:24:19 - 00:06:26:02
So for this, we're going to utilize

00:06:26:02 - 00:06:29:27
a date picker control,
same initial process

00:06:29:27 - 00:06:40:22
and a new checkout attributes
and give it a name.

00:06:40:24 - 00:06:44:03
And in the control type for this one,
we're going to select

00:06:44:05 - 00:06:49:15
out of that one list of options
a date picker.

00:06:49:17 - 00:06:49:27
Again,

00:06:49:27 - 00:06:52:27
we can select
whether it's required or not.

00:06:53:04 - 00:06:58:02
And then click on Save.

00:06:58:04 - 00:07:00:19
So a range of checkout attributes
have now been selected.

00:07:00:19 - 00:07:04:07
Let's go ahead and take a look at those
in the front end of our storefront.

00:07:04:10 - 00:07:07:04
So what I need to do
is go to my public store

00:07:07:04 - 00:07:09:22
and then just add something to my basket
and go to the basket

00:07:09:22 - 00:07:22:14
screen.

00:07:22:16 - 00:07:23:26
Any mandatory

00:07:23:26 - 00:07:27:21
checkout attributes
which do not have default values assigned

00:07:27:26 - 00:07:30:06
will provide a warning
at the top of the screen

00:07:30:06 - 00:07:34:08
to tell you
that you do need to enter some values.

00:07:34:11 - 00:07:36:12
So down at the bottom of the basket here,

00:07:36:12 - 00:07:39:28
you can see those checkout attributes
that we've created.

00:07:40:00 - 00:07:45:28
We've got our delivery note.

00:07:46:01 - 00:07:49:04
We've got our option to specify
whether or not it's a gift item.

00:07:49:12 - 00:07:52:21
Yes, we'll add additional cost

00:07:52:23 - 00:07:54:19
and we've got a date picker,
so I'll do the date picker.

00:07:54:19 - 00:07:57:02
First of all, that's nice and easy.

00:07:57:02 - 00:08:00:29
And then when we actually change
the cost of the item.

00:08:00:29 - 00:08:04:18
So using this example
here, we'll need to click update basket

00:08:04:18 - 00:08:15:19
in order for it to register
over on the right hand side

00:08:15:22 - 00:08:17:19
and that price will get added
to our order.

00:08:17:19 - 00:08:26:11
Subtotal

00:08:26:13 - 00:08:27:19
Okay, so we're just going to go ahead

00:08:27:19 - 00:08:30:29
and place this order
and take a look at where these notes

00:08:31:05 - 00:08:38:18
will actually appear to both the customer
and to our administrators.

00:08:38:21 - 00:08:41:09
So first, we're going to navigate to the
my order screen.

00:08:41:09 - 00:08:44:16
So this is customer facing once again,
we'll get details

00:08:44:16 - 00:08:53:25
of that particular order

00:08:53:28 - 00:08:56:05
and you'll see that listed
customer facing side.

00:08:56:05 - 00:09:00:05
We have information on the checkout
attribute values that were input

00:09:00:05 - 00:09:06:24
or selected

00:09:06:27 - 00:09:08:20
from within the admin side of things.

00:09:08:20 - 00:09:12:17
So if I go to sales orders

00:09:12:19 - 00:09:16:16
and open up that particular order

00:09:16:18 - 00:09:17:28
underneath the products

00:09:17:28 - 00:09:20:28
tab, which shows you the products
contained within that particular order,

00:09:21:02 - 00:09:27:22
you'll also see details on the checkout
attribute values.

00:09:27:25 - 00:09:33:08
And finally,
within shared print operations,

00:09:33:10 - 00:09:37:02
if I expand the job,

00:09:37:05 - 00:09:39:02
you'll see within the actual detail

00:09:39:02 - 00:09:43:05
section of that particular job,
we'll see those checkout attribute values.

00:09:43:07 - 00:09:47:03
So even though shared print operations
displays each individual job,

00:09:47:09 - 00:09:51:02
so there may be several entries
for one order, the checkout attribute

00:09:51:02 - 00:09:55:17
information is displayed in the details
section for each of the relevant jobs.

Incomplete
