Enhanced Sharing Options in Media Albums | AM_004

In this tutorial, I walk you through the enhanced sharing options available for our media albums. It's important to note that sharing can only be done on top-level albums, and we need to enable this feature in the Media Album Settings. I demonstrate how to set sharing permissions for different user roles and categories, ensuring that the right people have access. Please make sure to check your settings and enable sharing if it's not already activated.

0:00 So in this short tutorial, we're going to talk about enhanced sharing options within our media albums. So the first thing to note is that you're only able to actually undertake this sharing capability on top-level albums. 0:16 So, for example, if I go and look at one of my sub-albums, you'll see that I don't have the ability to share. 0:22 However, on the top level, any album within here, I have an ability to share that particular album with other members of my team. 0:31 Now, the first thing we need to note here is that we need to explicitly enable sharing on these albums if we want this functionality. 0:37 You should have this on here by default, but just in case you don't, as the administrator, go to your Infigo admin area, search for Media Album Settings, then within here, you're looking for this setting, which is Can Explicitly Share. And this means that authorised users can share those albums. 1:02 So if we go ahead and try and share one of those whilst logged in as the administrator, it could be an album administrator, you can specify or you can request who it is that is allowed to share these. 1:22 So if I click on that and go and share, you'll see I get a new interface coming up with a few options as to how exactly we can share this particular folder. 1:29 So there's numerous ways we can share it. One is not shared, so that's just the default state where only the owner and the administrators can view it. 1:39 We've got general, so anyone with a login on that storefront would be able to access this particular folder. we've got product, so this means that only certain, MegaEdit products can utilise that particular media folder and other products that don't have it enabled will not be able to see that particular 1:59 folder. We have category, so only users accessing products in that specified categories will be able to see the particular media album, so works much the same way as the product option. 2:12 We've got customer role, so only users belonging to a certain customer role, such as registered, will be able to see it. 2:19 And then we have departments, so if the current user belongs to a department and the department sharing option is allowed, you can share with all of the users that are within that particular department. 2:34 So I'll just keep it simple here, I'm just going to switch to customer role, that gives me a list of my customer roles that I have available. 2:42 I'll just select registered in my case and click save. And what that now means is if I log in as a general registered user on this particular storefront. 2:56 So I'll go ahead and find one to impersonate. I now have access to that particular folder. 3:15 So you see that now I'm ready and now I'm logged in as a registered user. I've got my own particular folder, which is images that this particular user is updated. 3:24 However, I also have this shared folder. So it's showing me who's logged in, who the album owner is, how it was shared and who it was shared with, and then I'll be able to access all the contents of that folder and use them in my MegaEdit products.
