In this tutorial we're going to have a look at how to send order notifications to multiple recipients using our new BCC settings that were introduced in January 2025. We'll also see how our new dropdown replaces an old setting which was called Use Customer Email for Correspondence.
0:20
This new replacement gives you additional flexibility. And we'll get into how that helps you out. So we'll start off by looking at this replaced setting.
0:31
So previously on the Customer Settings page, just scroll down a little bit here, you'll now see that there is a dropdown here.
0:41
So previously there was a Boolean setting called Use Customer Email for Correspondence. if that boolean was set to true. So if the checkbox was set to true, the system pulled the customer's main profile details for notifications. If it was false, it used the billing or shipping address details from checkout
1:02
. Now that old boolean has been replaced by a dropdown setting called Contact Details for Order Notifications that you can see here.
1:09
The drop-down has two options. It has customer details. which has the same behavior as when the old setting was true.
1:16
And we have billing or shipping address details, which is the same behavior as when the old setting was false. This means that if your old setting was true, your new dropdown is automatically set to customer details.
1:28
If your old setting was false, this is now billing or shipping address details in your storefront. Alongside the new dropdown, we've introduced three new checkboxes that control who else gets included in the BCC line for order notification emails.
1:48
So let's take a quick look at each one of these. So our top one here gives the ability to add impersonator email to BCC on order notifications.
1:57
If an admin or a staff member impersonates a customer, while placing an order, the impersonator's email gets added to the BCC, provided it is different from the main order email.
2:11
Next down, we have add customer email to BCC on order notifications. So even if you choose billing or shipping address details for the main email, you can still include the registered customer's original email address.
2:24
And then third, we have add shipping or billing address email to BCC on order notifications. So if you have customer details as the main email source, you can still BCC any emails provided in the billing and shipping sections at the checkout process of that particular order.
2:48

All of these are set to false by default. You decide which, if any, you want to enable.
