Setting up payment and tax | ID:BG_026

In this tutorial, we will discuss the basics of setting up payment methods and tax within Infigo. Our focus will be on the payment methods available within Infigo itself, rather than discussing the configuration of multiple third party plugins.

00:00:12:24 - 00:00:14:24
This short video is going to take a quick

00:00:14:24 - 00:00:19:00
look at the payment options
that we have available within Infigo

00:00:19:22 - 00:00:22:13
and how you might go about setting up
third

00:00:22:14 - 00:00:25:10
party plug ins.

00:00:25:15 - 00:00:29:11
Now we get to the payment options
from the admin area and we can just type

00:00:29:11 - 00:00:34:04
in pay or payment into the search box
and go to the payment

00:00:34:04 - 00:00:35:17
methods.

00:00:37:10 - 00:00:40:26
Now what you'll see in the resulting
list is a long list,

00:00:40:26 - 00:00:45:16
a lot of options of different payment
methods that we are able to configure.

00:00:46:08 - 00:00:49:20
Now, the vast
majority of these are going to be somehow

00:00:49:20 - 00:00:54:20
linked to a third party application
or a third party product.

00:00:54:20 - 00:00:59:12
So they will all have a slightly different
method of configuration.

00:01:00:03 - 00:01:04:03
As such, we won't cover those exact
details and how to do all of those here.

00:01:04:17 - 00:01:07:08
However,
if you want some additional detail on

00:01:07:08 - 00:01:10:15
some of the most commonly used ones,
I recommend

00:01:10:15 - 00:01:13:27
going to the Infigo helpdesk.

00:01:14:29 - 00:01:15:25
There's a payments

00:01:15:25 - 00:01:19:06
pricing tax
gift cards and discount code section,

00:01:19:24 - 00:01:22:19
and then within that there is a payment
plugin section

00:01:22:25 - 00:01:26:21
as well.

00:01:26:21 - 00:01:29:25
And there's some very detailed articles
in there to show you how to set up

00:01:29:25 - 00:01:35:23
the most popular payment
methods, such as Stripe,

00:01:35:25 - 00:01:44:07
for example.

00:01:45:25 - 00:01:47:25
In this quick video will focus mainly

00:01:47:25 - 00:01:50:23
on the default active payment method,

00:01:51:06 - 00:01:53:22
which is purchase order.

00:01:55:04 - 00:01:58:26
So if you notice, if I look right towards
the end of the column, say a

00:01:58:27 - 00:02:02:07
just before where it says
usage rules, there’s a column

00:02:02:07 - 00:02:05:05
which is named is active

00:02:05:27 - 00:02:08:29
purchase order is the only one
which is currently set to true

00:02:09:07 - 00:02:12:14
meaning that is the only option
currently available to

00:02:13:00 - 00:02:15:00
anyone that utilizes our storefront.

00:02:15:27 - 00:02:18:07
If we want to make other payment
methods available,

00:02:18:07 - 00:02:20:17
then all we need to do
is find the relevant row.

00:02:21:11 - 00:02:24:24
Click on edit and then we can
check on check that method.

00:02:26:03 - 00:02:28:15
Of course, for the vast majority of these,
you will need to do

00:02:28:15 - 00:02:31:21
some additional configuration
as well, such as PayPal.

00:02:31:25 - 00:02:36:03
So if I go and configure,
you get some additional options here

00:02:38:09 - 00:02:41:12
where you'll need to link
that to your existing account

00:02:41:12 - 00:02:45:03
for that particular plugin.

00:02:45:03 - 00:02:47:21
And again,
this article is which will cover

00:02:47:21 - 00:02:52:13
the primary ones of those.

00:02:52:13 - 00:02:56:15
The purchase order is actually a great one
to use for testing purposes,

00:02:57:06 - 00:03:00:23
even if you're not intending to use
purchase order when your site goes live

00:03:01:06 - 00:03:05:17
because it means that you don't
have to actively take any payment.

00:03:06:00 - 00:03:09:26
So if you want to test putting some orders
through and get familiar

00:03:09:26 - 00:03:13:19
with the Infigo workflow prior
to actually going live,

00:03:14:01 - 00:03:17:05
then by using purchase order,
all you need to do is put

00:03:18:24 - 00:03:22:06
a text string
alphanumeric string into the purchase

00:03:22:06 - 00:03:24:24
order box and then you're able
to put the order through.

00:03:25:13 - 00:03:28:20
So it means that there's no delay, there's
no need to actually take any payment,

00:03:28:29 - 00:03:33:13
and it just makes it really easy
to test the process.

00:03:33:21 - 00:03:36:04
If we take a look
at how that works on an actual storefront

00:03:36:16 - 00:03:40:00
and just to remind you
that we've only got the purchase

00:03:40:00 - 00:03:42:28
order option
available for payments at the moment.

00:03:44:04 - 00:03:45:28
So if I go through to my basket

00:03:45:28 - 00:03:54:13
and go to checkout,
proceed through our address

00:03:54:13 - 00:04:03:05
and our delivery methods,
and we'll see that once we've

00:04:03:05 - 00:04:07:08
reached the step after delivery methods,
we get payment information.

00:04:07:24 - 00:04:10:13
In our case,
just asking directly for a purchase

00:04:10:13 - 00:04:11:17
order number

00:04:14:20 - 00:04:18:22
and then we're able to continue if we'd
set up some additional payment methods.

00:04:18:22 - 00:04:22:19
So PayPal, Stripe, whatever it may be,
they would appear in the list here

00:04:22:19 - 00:04:23:29
for us to select.

00:04:23:29 - 00:04:27:15
Then the plug ins would take over
and you'd see the appropriate

00:04:28:15 - 00:04:30:25
login or information taking screen

00:04:30:25 - 00:04:33:13
for that particular methodology

00:04:35:17 - 00:04:36:27
in terms of purchase order.

00:04:36:27 - 00:04:39:13
That's all the information we need
so we can click continue

00:04:41:21 - 00:04:50:07
and confirm.

00:04:51:27 - 00:04:56:06
Next, we'll take a quick look at some of
the tax capabilities within Infigo.

00:04:57:06 - 00:04:59:13
So tax levels are managed through

00:04:59:13 - 00:05:02:04
Infigo globally at a platform level.

00:05:02:24 - 00:05:06:05
So this allows you to update a rate
for all storefronts at once

00:05:06:29 - 00:05:09:10
to make a change to the tax name.

00:05:09:10 - 00:05:13:03
or rate, log in to the platform
as a platform administrator,

00:05:13:03 - 00:05:15:24
which is what I've done here

00:05:16:11 - 00:05:17:26
at the storefront chooser.

00:05:17:26 - 00:05:20:10
So I go to switch storefront.

00:05:20:10 - 00:05:23:25
We select our platform.

00:05:23:28 - 00:05:29:25
So this is where I'm actually performing
tasks on a the platform itself. Now.

00:05:30:00 - 00:05:34:24
And then I'm going
to go to configuration tax

00:05:36:08 - 00:05:39:22
and tax categories.

00:05:42:23 - 00:05:44:17
So your tax categories

00:05:44:17 - 00:05:48:09
are the different bands of tax
that can be applied to products.

00:05:48:27 - 00:05:51:18
So you can adjust the predefined bands
or set up

00:05:51:18 - 00:05:55:10
new ones on the screen.

00:05:55:28 - 00:05:58:27
So, for example, if I go to add new

00:05:58:27 - 00:06:01:27
or I'll just give that a name

00:06:03:27 - 00:06:06:04
and then I can control the display order
for that.

00:06:06:04 - 00:06:10:01
So where it appears in the selection list.

00:06:15:27 - 00:06:16:24
Once you've created

00:06:16:24 - 00:06:20:02
your tax categories,
we then go to our tax providers.

00:06:20:26 - 00:06:23:08
So configuration

00:06:23:11 - 00:06:26:15
tax and tax providers,

00:06:28:12 - 00:06:29:27
tax providers are ways

00:06:29:27 - 00:06:33:27
in which you can cost tax
for each of your tax categories.

00:06:34:18 - 00:06:37:18
Generally,
the fixed tax rate provider suits

00:06:37:18 - 00:06:39:19
most of these needs.

00:06:42:01 - 00:06:44:22
That's the one
that's currently set to our primary,

00:06:44:22 - 00:06:48:13
and we'll be in your default storefront.

00:06:48:18 - 00:06:51:04
You can click configure next to that entry

00:06:52:02 - 00:06:55:24
and apply a percentage of tax
for each of your tax categories.

00:06:57:01 - 00:06:58:21
So you'll see we already have a rate
applied

00:06:58:21 - 00:07:01:26
for the ones that were already
within our platform.

00:07:02:14 - 00:07:05:02
We have a new band where I enter

00:07:05:02 - 00:07:13:19
a new value.

00:07:14:10 - 00:07:18:10
Once you've finished configuring your tax
categories and providers, switch back

00:07:18:10 - 00:07:22:05
to the storefront admin
to set further tax configurations

00:07:22:11 - 00:07:26:07
on a storefront basis.

00:07:27:09 - 00:07:30:17
So a couple of additional things
to consider when looking at tax.

00:07:31:01 - 00:07:35:11
One is how we actually apply
a tax band to a product.

00:07:35:29 - 00:07:39:15
So we've actually set up some

00:07:39:17 - 00:07:41:18
tax categories as we've already discussed.

00:07:41:28 - 00:07:45:14
Now we need to actually apply
those to a particular product.

00:07:46:20 - 00:07:49:06
So if I just navigate
to any one of my products

00:07:49:06 - 00:07:51:00
on storefront

00:07:54:03 - 00:07:57:10
and what I want to do
is get to the product variant settings.

00:07:57:11 - 00:08:00:14
So I can either do that
through the product variant tab

00:08:01:01 - 00:08:04:10
or as we've seen in other tutorials,
I can actually do this

00:08:04:10 - 00:08:07:15
on the main product
management screen as well.

00:08:08:04 - 00:08:11:29
So I can just click on the little
plus icon next to a particular product

00:08:12:16 - 00:08:16:15
and then the table that appears
is the product variant settings.

00:08:17:23 - 00:08:20:12
So I can edit on that

00:08:22:25 - 00:08:26:02
sticking on the info
tab and scrolling down.

00:08:27:10 - 00:08:29:25
We eventually reach a point here

00:08:29:25 - 00:08:32:03
where you get information on your

00:08:34:02 - 00:08:37:14
tax specification for that
particular product with your options

00:08:37:14 - 00:08:41:18
being either tax exempt
or you can choose one of the available

00:08:41:18 - 00:08:45:04
tax categories.

00:08:46:18 - 00:08:48:19
Make sure you save that before
you actually

00:08:49:19 - 00:08:51:10
leave this page.

00:08:51:10 - 00:08:54:19
And then that's good to go.

00:08:54:26 - 00:08:58:10
You can also apply tax to delivery
settings.

00:08:59:25 - 00:09:05:00
So to do this,
we go to the configuration tab settings

00:09:05:21 - 00:09:08:26
and then tax settings.

00:09:09:01 - 00:09:11:24
If we scroll down a little bit,
there's an option which says delivery

00:09:11:24 - 00:09:14:02
is taxable.

00:09:16:29 - 00:09:19:10
You may also find that
if you're in certain parts of the world

00:09:19:13 - 00:09:22:20
that this also might say
shipping is taxable.

00:09:23:15 - 00:09:28:19
When you highlight that a couple of extra
options appear, you've got the ability to

00:09:30:22 - 00:09:31:08
show the

00:09:31:08 - 00:09:35:05
delivery price, including tax,
and you get the ability

00:09:35:05 - 00:09:40:02
to choose the tax category
that you want to apply to delivery.

00:09:42:27 - 00:09:44:27
So the last thing
we want to have a look at here

00:09:44:27 - 00:09:49:15
is how we might apply different
tax rates by country

00:09:49:26 - 00:09:52:05
or by state or something like that.

00:09:52:26 - 00:09:58:07
And this is done
using something called provider rules.

00:09:58:07 - 00:10:00:15
Before you actually go in
and create some provider

00:10:00:15 - 00:10:02:25
rules, you may want to go and create
some additional

00:10:03:26 - 00:10:06:27
tax categories, first of all, to relate
to the different countries.

00:10:07:12 - 00:10:10:09
So let's say,
for example, of the different states.

00:10:11:05 - 00:10:16:10
So let's say, for example, I had a UK

00:10:21:13 - 00:10:24:26
and Spain.

00:10:26:24 - 00:10:29:13
Next we need to go to the tax
providers option.

00:10:29:13 - 00:10:32:03
So if again,
I just search for tax in the box here

00:10:32:18 - 00:10:36:28
and go to our tax providers area,
we then need to change

00:10:36:28 - 00:10:40:15
the method that we're utilizing
for our tax providers.

00:10:42:08 - 00:10:42:23
So we see at the

00:10:42:23 - 00:10:45:28
moment
that it's a fixed tax rate provider.

00:10:46:17 - 00:10:50:03
If we want to control it
via country level of our state level

00:10:50:11 - 00:10:52:17
and we need to choose the appropriate
option.

00:10:53:22 - 00:10:56:19
So I'm going to do tax
by country state, and

00:10:58:15 - 00:11:00:13
then I can click select to mark

00:11:00:13 - 00:11:03:23
that as a primary provider.

00:11:05:04 - 00:11:08:03
We can then go to the configure option
next to that option which is selected

00:11:09:26 - 00:11:11:09
and you'll see here
that we have the ability

00:11:11:09 - 00:11:15:03
to add a new tax rate where we can select

00:11:15:03 - 00:11:18:07
the country, we can select the region
within that country.

00:11:19:01 - 00:11:21:27
We can apply a post or a zip code and

00:11:23:01 - 00:11:27:08
the selection of the tax category
that we want to use.

00:11:28:24 - 00:11:32:29
So let's say for example, I want to do UK.

00:11:36:07 - 00:11:37:29
You can choose a region within the UK

00:11:37:29 - 00:11:43:28
if you wish to do so,
then choose a tax band

00:11:46:01 - 00:11:49:05
and put in a tax rate.

00:11:49:28 - 00:12:00:20
If I creates a new one for Spain,

00:12:00:20 - 00:12:03:13
apply a slightly different rate

00:12:04:01 - 00:12:05:12
and then add

00:12:09:20 - 00:12:10:01
a next.

00:12:10:01 - 00:12:13:01
We're going to go to those provider rules
we mentioned a few minutes ago.

00:12:14:09 - 00:12:17:16
So if I go to our tax settings

00:12:20:01 - 00:12:21:22
and we'll move across from the general

00:12:21:22 - 00:12:25:10
to the provider rules, tap

00:12:26:20 - 00:12:29:06
will enable provider rules

00:12:29:06 - 00:12:31:12
and then we have the ability
to add new records.

00:12:31:23 - 00:12:35:07
So the important bit here
is the plug in system name.

00:12:36:02 - 00:12:39:25
So based on the specification type

00:12:39:25 - 00:12:42:27
that we've just set up,
we need that to be referencing

00:12:44:02 - 00:12:49:20
tax dot, country, state, zip.

00:12:52:19 - 00:12:54:01
Then choose one of our countries

00:13:01:29 - 00:13:28:14
and insert.

00:13:32:18 - 00:13:33:05
So that's our

00:13:33:05 - 00:13:36:17
rules set up, but we still need to apply
those on particular products.

00:13:36:26 - 00:13:40:02
So we want to make sure that based on
where

00:13:41:06 - 00:13:44:25
our customer may be located
or where they want to ship this to,

00:13:45:07 - 00:13:48:22
then we want to make sure that it chooses
the correct tax bracket.

00:13:49:16 - 00:13:53:10
So the method of doing
this is the same as we previously saw.

00:13:53:11 - 00:13:57:25
We just need to make sure that we choose
multiple tax categories to choose from.

00:13:58:22 - 00:14:02:07
So if I go to any one of our products

00:14:04:16 - 00:14:05:09
and onto the product

00:14:05:09 - 00:14:10:01
variant settings, right down to our

00:14:12:19 - 00:14:13:25
tax categories, again

00:14:13:25 - 00:14:16:17
you'll see that I
now have my two additional tax categories

00:14:17:13 - 00:14:19:22
and I can multi select those
if I wish to do so.

00:14:20:05 - 00:14:22:00
And what that means is it'll now choose

00:14:22:28 - 00:14:24:22
the appropriate one of those options

00:14:24:22 - 00:14:28:01
based on the location of where the order

00:14:28:01 - 00:14:30:17
is being placed.

00:14:32:24 - 00:14:35:12
However, before you apply that,

00:14:35:12 - 00:14:36:20
you need to make sure that we save it.
