Tutorial Video Transcript

00:00:12:27 - 00:00:14:07
This tutorial discusses the

00:00:14:07 - 00:00:18:18
use of masks within images or clip arts
within your MegaEdit canvas.

00:00:19:09 - 00:00:22:05
Masks allow you to apply
custom shapes to your imagery

00:00:22:12 - 00:00:27:04
by applying an overlay
which acts as an image outlined.

00:00:27:27 - 00:00:32:01
So I'm starting off on my MegaEdit product
screen in the admin area of Infigo.

00:00:32:15 - 00:00:37:20
And then the first thing we actually need
to do is to create our mask categories.

00:00:37:29 - 00:00:41:01
So the same as we've seen
with other MegaEdit resources,

00:00:41:09 - 00:00:43:26
we create them
independently from products.

00:00:44:19 - 00:00:47:23
We create a category
and then we can assign the category

00:00:47:23 - 00:00:51:13
and its contents to a particular product
or multiple products

00:00:51:13 - 00:00:53:25
if necessary.

00:00:56:03 - 00:00:57:25
So either from the list on the left

00:00:57:25 - 00:01:00:17
hand side or the little dropdown
list on the top right.

00:01:01:00 - 00:01:03:10
I'm going to go to General Data.

00:01:07:09 - 00:01:08:22
The second tab along within

00:01:08:22 - 00:01:12:16
the general data
tab is the mask categories.

00:01:12:16 - 00:01:16:28
And you can see I've got
a couple of examples already set up.

00:01:20:05 - 00:01:22:06
All we need to do is say add new record,

00:01:23:15 - 00:01:29:13
put in a couple of details.

00:01:29:13 - 00:01:30:09
We can make it.

00:01:30:09 - 00:01:33:20
So these masks are administration
only if necessary.

00:01:33:20 - 00:01:36:18
So if you don't want customers
to be able to access these masks,

00:01:37:03 - 00:01:39:20
you can make the category admin only.

00:01:39:20 - 00:01:42:07
So that's useful
if you are just setting up templates

00:01:42:22 - 00:01:45:28
and those templates
are not going to be adjustable by the end.

00:01:45:28 - 00:01:46:25
Users

00:01:48:22 - 00:01:50:11
click insert

00:01:50:11 - 00:01:54:27
and then hit configure and now
we need to upload some associated files.

00:01:54:27 - 00:01:59:04
So JPEG, PNG or PDF format.

00:01:59:04 - 00:02:03:17
So I have a folder here
which shows a few examples of usable masks

00:02:04:09 - 00:02:06:06
and this is all you really need.

00:02:06:06 - 00:02:08:22
So if I open up
one of those as an example,

00:02:09:22 - 00:02:10:15
all you need is a

00:02:10:15 - 00:02:13:20
contrasting image with black and white.

00:02:13:20 - 00:02:16:02
When these are uploaded
into your mask category

00:02:16:02 - 00:02:20:22
and used in conjunction with an image
field or a clip art, on your MegaEdit

00:02:20:22 - 00:02:23:26
canvas, the image will show through
in the white area

00:02:24:16 - 00:02:26:21
and the black area

00:02:27:06 - 00:02:38:13
will be made transparent.

00:02:38:13 - 00:02:50:27
So if I just upload a few of those masks,
you'll see those are being uploaded. Now,

00:02:52:04 - 00:02:55:09
once the upload has been successful,
you'll see small thumbnails of them

00:02:55:09 - 00:02:59:05
at the bottom of the screen, if any have
failed, you'll get some messages

00:02:59:17 - 00:03:02:11
informing you that they failed,
and that is our mask category created.

00:03:02:11 - 00:03:04:29
informing you that they failed,
and that is our mask category created.

00:03:05:18 - 00:03:08:05
Now we need to apply to use that category

00:03:08:06 - 00:03:10:10
on the products of interest to us.

00:03:11:18 - 00:03:14:20
So if I go to our MegaEdit resource links

00:03:14:20 - 00:03:22:18
and back to our product section, identify
one of the MegaEdit products

00:03:22:18 - 00:03:27:12
that you want to utilize the mask on
and go to edit on the right hand side

00:03:30:11 - 00:03:32:17
as part
of the tabs across the top of the screen,

00:03:32:29 - 00:03:35:10
you have masks about halfway across

00:03:36:10 - 00:03:40:09
where you get all the mask categories
and you can assign one of those categories

00:03:40:09 - 00:03:51:06
or multiple if you wish to do so.

00:03:51:06 - 00:03:54:24
From here,
I'm going to launch that MegaEdit product.

00:03:55:09 - 00:03:58:10
So the first thing we need to do
is make sure that we have either an image

00:03:58:10 - 00:04:02:15
field or a clip heart on our canvas.

00:04:02:15 - 00:04:05:05
So I've got a few clip thoughts
that have been uploaded here.

00:04:06:02 - 00:04:09:25
So if I just pick one of those
as an example

00:04:09:25 - 00:04:10:07
Okay.

00:04:10:07 - 00:04:13:14
So what we need to do
now is to apply one of our masks

00:04:13:14 - 00:04:18:04
to this particular image.

00:04:18:04 - 00:04:20:16
So this is done
by opening up the pop up window.

00:04:21:11 - 00:04:24:20
And then you'll notice
that we have a new tab available

00:04:24:20 - 00:04:28:06
which wasn't there
previously in our previous tutorials.

00:04:28:06 - 00:04:30:05
So this heart-shaped black

00:04:31:22 - 00:04:34:29
icon here is for masks

00:04:34:29 - 00:04:38:05
and you'll see that you have a
no mask option to remove any

00:04:38:05 - 00:04:39:15
that have been applied.

00:04:39:15 - 00:04:42:06
Or you can select
between all of the uploaded masks

00:04:43:10 - 00:04:45:24
and it's
just a case of clicking between them

00:04:45:24 - 00:04:50:09
and it will apply it
to your specified image or clip frame.

00:04:50:23 - 00:04:54:15
So for example, it will stretch the mask
to fit the shape of the frame

00:05:09:21 - 00:05:10:29
so they can see, for example,

00:05:10:29 - 00:05:14:16
that we have our image

00:05:14:23 - 00:05:16:07
showing through

00:05:16:07 - 00:05:18:23
where the actual mask was white.

00:05:19:01 - 00:05:23:02
So let me just avoid the actual mask
itself.

00:05:23:02 - 00:05:29:04
So however,

00:05:29:04 - 00:05:31:29
the black area in the actual
mask is now transparent.

When used in the MegaEdit editor, images will only be displayed within the white area.

These files can be saved as JPG, PNG or PDF, for use in the MegaEdit editor.
