Configuring MegaEdit scripts on a product or global level | ME_026

Here, we will learn how we can control the configuration of MegaEdit scripts either on a product or global level. Controlling scripts at a product level allows you to define a different script configuration per-product. Controlling script configuration at a global level allows you to implement changes to all products on a storefront using that particular script. This tutorial will not detail how to write your own MegaEdit scripts, nor discuss any of the hard-coded scripts that Infigo provide for you. Future tutorials will focus on these topics, however at the time of writing these are yet to be created. For guidance or assistance with hard-coded or custom MegaEdit scripts, please contact our Customer Support team, who can point you in the right direction. Here, we will focus on custom MegaEdit scripts. Hard-coded scripts can also be modified, however access to this functionality needs to be requested. If you would like this, please contact our Customer Support team.

00:00:06:27 - 00:00:07:06
Here.

00:00:07:06 - 00:00:11:02
We'll learn how we can control
the configuration of MegaEdit scripts

00:00:11:09 - 00:00:13:18
either on a product or a global level.

00:00:14:11 - 00:00:16:27
Controlling scripts at a product level
allows you

00:00:16:27 - 00:00:20:16
to define a different script
configuration per product.

00:00:21:03 - 00:00:25:04
Controlling script configuration
at a global level allows you to implement

00:00:25:04 - 00:00:29:21
changes to all products on a storefront
that are using that particular script.

00:00:30:26 - 00:00:34:24
This tutorial will not detail
how to write your own MegaEdit scripts,

00:00:35:04 - 00:00:38:15
nor will it discuss
any of the hardcoded scripts that Infigo.

00:00:38:16 - 00:00:40:01
I provide for you.

00:00:40:01 - 00:00:43:01
Future
tutorials will focus on these topics.

00:00:43:08 - 00:00:46:13
However, at the time of recording
these are not yet created.

00:00:47:23 - 00:00:51:21
For guidance or assistance with hard coded
or custom MegaEdit scripts.

00:00:51:28 - 00:00:54:20
Please contact our customer support team
for the time being.

00:00:54:20 - 00:00:56:08
Who can point you in the right direction

00:00:58:24 - 00:00:59:04
here?

00:00:59:04 - 00:01:01:24
We'll focus on custom MegaEdit scripts.

00:01:02:05 - 00:01:04:22
Hardcoded scripts can also be modified.

00:01:04:29 - 00:01:07:24
However, access to this functionality
needs to be requested.

00:01:07:24 - 00:01:09:04
Specifically,

00:01:09:04 - 00:01:11:26
if you would like to do this, then
please contact our customer

00:01:11:26 - 00:01:14:07
support team.

00:01:16:14 - 00:01:17:09
So to start off

00:01:17:09 - 00:01:20:08
with, we're going to navigate
to our MegaEdit scripts page.

00:01:20:09 - 00:01:23:07
You can see I'm on there at the moment,
but can get to it just by typing

00:01:25:04 - 00:01:26:28
all the starts of MegaEdit

00:01:26:28 - 00:01:30:13
and then go to MegaEdit scripts.

00:01:31:10 - 00:01:34:17
So depending on the permissions
that we have on our account,

00:01:34:26 - 00:01:37:20
we may just see the custom
MegaEdit scripts in here.

00:01:38:00 - 00:01:41:16
You may also see details on the hardcoded
MegaEdit scripts

00:01:42:09 - 00:01:44:25
for now, which is going to focus on
creating our own

00:01:45:12 - 00:01:48:22
custom script
so we can do that by clicking on Create

00:01:51:14 - 00:01:53:07
an all I'm going to do in this case

00:01:53:07 - 00:01:56:27
is to create an empty script
for representation purposes.

00:01:57:13 - 00:02:01:10
So this script, once created, can
be applied to any of your mega products.

00:02:02:01 - 00:02:14:15
So if I just put a sample name in here,
of course in reality would fill this out.

00:02:14:15 - 00:02:20:00
But for now I'm just going to click Save.

00:02:20:00 - 00:02:22:17
So our script is now created.

00:02:22:17 - 00:02:24:19
Next, we're going to assign this script

00:02:24:27 - 00:02:27:14
to a particular MegaEdit product.

00:02:27:19 - 00:02:29:19
So we do this by going to

00:02:30:21 - 00:02:33:10
the MegaEdit product screen.

00:02:33:10 - 00:02:37:05
This is assuming that we've already
got one or more MegaEdit products created.

00:02:38:07 - 00:02:40:11
Locate the MegaEdit product of interest

00:02:41:04 - 00:02:45:08
and then click on the edit button
on the right hand side.

00:02:46:13 - 00:02:48:16
From there,
you can navigate to the Scripts tab

00:02:48:26 - 00:02:51:11
and this will give you
all of the available scripts,

00:02:51:11 - 00:02:54:04
which includes
all of the custom created scripts

00:02:54:13 - 00:02:57:13
and all of the hard coded ones
that you have available to you.

00:02:58:11 - 00:03:00:10
So you can see,
for example, I've got a couple of scripts

00:03:00:10 - 00:03:01:27
already assigned in here.

00:03:01:27 - 00:03:06:23
If I want to assign a new script as well,
I can just select his checkbox

00:03:07:22 - 00:03:10:14
and click on Save.

00:03:14:10 - 00:03:15:03
Now from here

00:03:15:03 - 00:03:18:15
we have the ability to configure
that particular script,

00:03:19:01 - 00:03:23:04
so I can just go to the the same row
that I've just activated to the right hand

00:03:23:04 - 00:03:26:08
side and click on configure
to open up a separate screen.

00:03:27:16 - 00:03:30:00
Now this screen allows you
to change the script

00:03:30:00 - 00:03:34:06
configuration on a product level,
so changes

00:03:34:06 - 00:03:38:27
that are made here will only impact
the selected selected MegaEdit product.

00:03:39:08 - 00:03:42:17
No others will be affected.

00:03:44:03 - 00:03:46:12
So next, we're going to learn
how to globally

00:03:46:12 - 00:03:48:23
modify the MegaEdit script configuration.

00:03:49:13 - 00:03:53:16
To start off with, we're going to navigate
back to our MegaEdit scripts

00:03:53:17 - 00:04:00:03
screen,

00:04:00:03 - 00:04:02:26
identify
the scripts that we want to modify,

00:04:03:06 - 00:04:06:19
and then you'll see that we now have this
global configuration option

00:04:10:19 - 00:04:13:05
selected that will
give me a couple of additional options

00:04:13:27 - 00:04:17:00
and then changes that are made
here are global

00:04:17:06 - 00:04:19:02
and will impact all of the products

00:04:19:02 - 00:04:23:00
that are using that script
on the active storefront. So that's important,

00:04:23:00 - 00:04:27:17
These are in a storefront
by storefront basis.

00:04:28:05 - 00:04:31:24
Once you've made the required changes
to click on Save

00:04:32:16 - 00:04:35:19
and those will now be assigned.
