00:00:05:15 - 00:00:08:06
In this
quick tutorial, we'll see how to duplicate

00:00:08:06 - 00:00:12:09
existing products and categories
within a single storefront.

00:00:12:11 - 00:00:15:11
Please note it's not possible
to directly duplicate products

00:00:15:11 - 00:00:18:11
and categories
between different storefronts.

00:00:18:13 - 00:00:23:03
You can, however, utilize the Product
Excel import tool, which will allow you

00:00:23:03 - 00:00:26:22
to export much of your catalog information
from one storefront,

00:00:26:25 - 00:00:30:22
then recreate it on another
with very little work involved.

00:00:30:25 - 00:00:35:01
And there's other tutorials on the academy
to show you how to do this.

00:00:35:03 - 00:00:37:11
This tutorial focuses on duplication

00:00:37:11 - 00:00:41:02
on a single storefront.

00:00:41:04 - 00:00:42:29
So we're going to start off by navigating

00:00:42:29 - 00:00:48:13
to our product management screen.

00:00:48:16 - 00:00:49:10
We're going to start off

00:00:49:10 - 00:00:54:04
by looking at product duplication.

00:00:54:07 - 00:00:56:03
So click on edit

00:00:56:03 - 00:01:00:02
next to the product
that you wish to duplicate,

00:01:00:05 - 00:01:02:02
and then you'll see at the top
right of your screen,

00:01:02:02 - 00:01:07:21
you have the option here to copy product

00:01:07:23 - 00:01:10:17
will then see a copy product window.

00:01:10:17 - 00:01:14:09
So a screen appears
which is allowing you to determine

00:01:14:09 - 00:01:18:10
the level of detail
that's included in the duplicate product.

00:01:18:12 - 00:01:22:12
So this screen allows you
to apply a new name to the product.

00:01:22:14 - 00:01:26:14
By default, it will just do a copy off
and then the product may

00:01:26:17 - 00:01:30:16
allow you to select whether the new
product is automatically published.

00:01:30:18 - 00:01:34:18
You can also publish it
while you do some additional work.

00:01:34:21 - 00:01:38:29
You can select whether the new product
is going to copy

00:01:38:29 - 00:01:42:09
any of the existing product
images from the old product.

00:01:42:11 - 00:01:45:29
And then probably most importantly,
you have the ability to copy extended

00:01:45:29 - 00:01:46:29
data.

00:01:46:29 - 00:01:51:17
This is such as defined
mega edit or static PDF configurations.

00:01:51:19 - 00:01:54:19
If you wish to duplicate complex product
configurations,

00:01:54:25 - 00:01:57:28
this option should be selected,

00:01:58:01 - 00:01:59:19
which should make those choices.

00:01:59:19 - 00:02:04:01
Just click on copy

00:02:04:04 - 00:02:06:19
that will make you a duplicate version
of that product,

00:02:06:19 - 00:02:09:19
which is now completely independent
from the original product.

00:02:09:19 - 00:02:14:25
So you can modify this as you see fit.

00:02:14:28 - 00:02:15:06
Next,

00:02:15:06 - 00:02:18:14
let's take a look
at how to duplicate a category.

00:02:18:16 - 00:02:21:18
If I go to manage categories, I'm
going to click on edit

00:02:21:18 - 00:02:26:07
next to the category
that I wish to duplicate.

00:02:26:10 - 00:02:28:15
And then similar to our products
on the top

00:02:28:15 - 00:02:35:03
right of the screen,
I have the ability to copy category.

00:02:35:05 - 00:02:37:24
Now, by default,
the details of the category landing

00:02:37:24 - 00:02:42:18
page will be duplicated,
including information such as directions

00:02:42:18 - 00:02:47:01
and displays settings This screen
allows you to define additional detail

00:02:47:01 - 00:02:52:04
copy between the two categories,
and this includes things such as

00:02:52:06 - 00:02:52:25
specifying

00:02:52:25 - 00:02:55:25
whether the category
is going to be immediately published.

00:02:56:03 - 00:02:58:13
Specification of copy level.

00:02:58:13 - 00:03:01:09
So what you can choose to take category
information only.

00:03:01:09 - 00:03:06:15
So no products,
duplicate product references

00:03:06:18 - 00:03:11:18
or duplicate product references
and take additional category data.

00:03:11:21 - 00:03:14:21
So the level of detail that is up to you,

00:03:14:26 - 00:03:18:28
you also have the ability to define
a parent category if you wish to do so.

00:03:19:00 - 00:03:22:00
If you want to specify a

00:03:22:03 - 00:03:24:22
a next level up.

00:03:24:22 - 00:03:26:25
So start defining a category tree.

00:03:26:25 - 00:03:30:02
You can define the parent category
for the newly created

00:03:30:04 - 00:03:34:26
copy category.

00:03:34:28 - 00:03:36:09
Click on Copy Category,

00:03:36:09 - 00:03:40:27
and it will go ahead and create it
for you.

00:03:41:00 - 00:03:42:12
And again, as with the products

00:03:42:12 - 00:03:46:13
that's now completely independent
from the base category

00:03:46:13 - 00:03:49:19
that you get from, so you can make
whatever change you want at this stage.
