Creating departments to group your customers | ID:BG_016

This tutorial will cover the Departments functionality within Infigo and describe its usage. Departments are a means of grouping your users together and giving them specific pathways and capabilities when using your storefront. For example, users in a department may have access only to certain delivery or payment methods. Departments can also be used in conjunction with a feature named Access Permissions, to control access to certain products. This functionality will be covered in another tutorial.

00:00:13:07 - 00:00:14:03
This tutorial

00:00:14:03 - 00:00:16:22
will cover the department's functionality

00:00:17:14 - 00:00:19:17
and describe
how you might go about using it.

00:00:20:27 - 00:00:24:28
So departments are a means of grouping
your users together and giving them

00:00:24:28 - 00:00:29:09
specific pathways and capabilities
when using your storefront.

00:00:30:19 - 00:00:34:04
So, for example, users in a department

00:00:34:11 - 00:00:37:20
may have access only to certain delivery
or payment methods.

00:00:38:13 - 00:00:41:29
Departments can also be used
in conjunction with a feature named Access

00:00:42:00 - 00:00:45:00
Permissions
to control access to certain products.

00:00:45:18 - 00:00:50:25
And that functionality will be covered
in a different tutorial.

00:00:52:23 - 00:00:56:03
The first thing we need to do
is to navigate to the department's screen.

00:00:56:12 - 00:00:58:15
So that's found under configuration

00:00:59:09 - 00:01:02:09
and departments.

00:01:03:04 - 00:01:06:04
This shows us a list
of all of the departments that we have

00:01:06:04 - 00:01:10:18
available in the current storefront,
of which at the moment there isn't any.

00:01:12:12 - 00:01:15:18
We click on Add New Record.

00:01:15:18 - 00:01:18:09
It wants a few bits of information from us

00:01:18:09 - 00:01:21:29
to do with the Department.

00:01:22:06 - 00:01:24:21
So primarily these first four boxes hit.

00:01:25:08 - 00:01:36:06
So we have a name of the department,
a description,

00:01:37:12 - 00:01:39:08
a cos code

00:01:45:14 - 00:01:49:10
and a PL code.

00:01:54:00 - 00:01:55:20
With those bits of information inputs,

00:01:55:20 - 00:01:58:25
we can go on, insert

00:02:00:03 - 00:02:02:13
and we can get to
some additional information

00:02:02:25 - 00:02:07:02
for that department by clicking on this
plus icon to the left hand

00:02:07:02 - 00:02:09:25
side of the entry.

00:02:11:24 - 00:02:14:01
What we have available in here,

00:02:14:01 - 00:02:16:27
first
and foremost, is to choose the customers

00:02:16:27 - 00:02:20:10
that we want to place
within a particular department.

00:02:20:23 - 00:02:23:14
So it's just a case of

00:02:23:14 - 00:02:25:19
clicking on the checkbox
next to the customers

00:02:25:19 - 00:02:28:22
that you want to insert at the moment.

00:02:28:23 - 00:02:31:04
Of course, we only have one customer
in this storefront.

00:02:31:16 - 00:02:35:12
We will be adding more in future sessions

00:02:37:10 - 00:02:39:05
or scrolling a bit further down.

00:02:39:05 - 00:02:43:01
You also have the ability
to select available payment methods to

00:02:45:07 - 00:02:48:12
customers within this department.

00:02:48:12 - 00:02:51:09
The same with shipping methods.

00:02:51:09 - 00:02:53:21
And if you've got different addresses
defined,

00:02:54:00 - 00:02:57:27
you can choose which addresses
that department is also able to use.

00:02:59:27 - 00:03:01:10
How to actually set up

00:03:01:10 - 00:03:04:08
these methods will be covered in different

00:03:04:08 - 00:03:07:01
tutorial videos.

00:03:11:07 - 00:03:12:04
Would you need to make sure

00:03:12:04 - 00:03:15:18
that we save these changes

00:03:23:03 - 00:03:25:08
so every single
one of these sections has a different

00:03:25:08 - 00:03:27:18
save changes
icon that you need to be aware of

00:03:33:24 - 00:03:34:22
and that is it.

00:03:34:22 - 00:03:38:26
That is your department
created with a customer

00:03:38:26 - 00:03:41:09
defined to that particular department

00:03:42:18 - 00:03:46:21
for the purposes of this tutorial
and our continued build of our storefront.

00:03:47:02 - 00:03:48:03
I'm also going to set up

00:03:48:03 - 00:03:51:16
a few additional departments
which are going to help us going forward.

00:03:52:03 - 00:03:57:02
So if you are working alongside these
tutorials to create a sample storefront,

00:03:57:13 - 00:04:02:16
then I would recommend creating
some additional departments as well.

00:04:03:09 - 00:04:04:27
So we've got one which is called

00:04:05:26 - 00:04:14:25
RedCoDepartment.

00:04:20:18 - 00:04:22:27
Don't worry too much about the description
cost code

00:04:22:27 - 00:04:24:29
PL code, just put anything in those

00:04:27:02 - 00:04:29:10
and also some similar entries

00:04:29:10 - 00:05:03:13
for blue co and green co.

00:05:03:27 - 00:05:09:07
There's our four departments created.

00:05:09:07 - 00:05:11:06
We click on Save

00:05:11:08 - 00:05:14:07
and those are now applied.
