Tutorial Video Transcript

00:00:12:23 - 00:00:15:28
In this tutorial
we'll learn how to utilize a template

00:00:15:28 - 00:00:18:28
created using the Invent plugin
for Adobe InDesign.

00:00:19:26 - 00:00:23:15
Export the template from InDesign
and add it to

00:00:23:15 - 00:00:28:01
Infigo via a MegaEdit product type.

00:00:28:01 - 00:00:29:00
So I've got Invent

00:00:29:00 - 00:00:32:17
loaded up on my screen right now
or InDesign with the Invent plugin,

00:00:33:06 - 00:00:37:11
and we're working on a product here
which is in progress,

00:00:37:11 - 00:00:38:29
and we may want to actually just test it

00:00:38:29 - 00:00:42:02
out on our Infigo storefront
just to see how it's working.

00:00:42:21 - 00:00:48:06
So we need to export a file from here
that we can then import back into our

00:00:48:06 - 00:00:51:18
Infigo storefront.

00:00:51:18 - 00:00:55:22
So we just need to navigate over
to the export tab on our Infigo

00:00:55:22 - 00:00:57:16
Invent plugin.

00:00:58:05 - 00:00:59:27
Now remember, if you don't have the plug

00:00:59:27 - 00:01:03:05
invisible over here,
then you can get to it from window

00:01:05:15 - 00:01:07:00
extensions.

00:01:07:00 - 00:01:11:22
And then in Infigo Invent.

00:01:11:22 - 00:01:13:16
So head over to export.

00:01:13:16 - 00:01:16:05
It will give you a summary
of what you've added to your

00:01:17:17 - 00:01:25:02
Invent design.

00:01:25:02 - 00:01:28:15
And then we just need to come down
to the bottom of this export page here.

00:01:28:24 - 00:01:31:21
And initially we need to set an export
file.

00:01:38:03 - 00:01:40:17
Click start validations
that will actually go ahead

00:01:40:17 - 00:01:43:24
and check that everything's
okay before the export takes place.

00:01:44:15 - 00:01:47:19
There's a few different message types
that may appear so if this thing's

00:01:47:27 - 00:01:51:27
not together that the plugin believes
there should be.

00:01:52:06 - 00:01:56:05
However, most likely
is that you're going to get a notification

00:01:56:05 - 00:01:58:29
that you actually need
to save the document before exporting.

00:01:59:22 - 00:02:02:03
So any messages will appear
in these validations

00:02:02:03 - 00:02:08:22
section here.

00:02:08:22 - 00:02:13:01
So resolve any of those problems
and just click on export.

00:02:13:01 - 00:02:17:08
You are required to confirm that you have
the license to use all media and fonts

00:02:17:19 - 00:02:19:15
in the exported content.

00:02:19:22 - 00:02:20:12
Next, we need to

00:02:20:12 - 00:02:22:21
navigate to our Infigo admin area

00:02:24:06 - 00:02:26:29
and find a product
that we want to actually utilize.

00:02:27:08 - 00:02:29:28
Now, this could be a product
that we've already set up,

00:02:31:01 - 00:02:34:03
but what we're going to need to do
is convert a stock product

00:02:34:17 - 00:02:38:15
into a a MegaEdit type product.

00:02:39:06 - 00:02:40:17
So you could have done this already.

00:02:40:17 - 00:02:44:00
You may want to change
one of your existing MegaEdit products

00:02:44:00 - 00:02:47:00
into one
that utilizes this Invent template.

00:02:47:00 - 00:02:48:16
That's absolutely fine.

00:02:49:13 - 00:02:54:01
So this is where I convert any of my stock
products to a MegaEdit type product.

00:02:55:24 - 00:02:57:25
I just go to add new on the top right

00:02:58:26 - 00:03:02:28
and select the product
that I want to convert.

00:03:04:17 - 00:03:07:00
Now, if we are utilizing an Invent file,

00:03:07:09 - 00:03:10:25
we can specify it at this stage,
the one we want to use.

00:03:11:11 - 00:03:13:13
You can specify this later as well.

00:03:13:13 - 00:03:15:20
So there's no requirement to do this
right now.

00:03:16:15 - 00:03:20:09
I just go to choose a file
and I'm going to locate the file

00:03:20:09 - 00:03:23:16
that we just created from Invent.

00:03:23:16 - 00:03:26:23
So that will be an MEX file type

00:03:26:23 - 00:03:32:27
and just click open,
then go to create a new MegaEdit

00:03:32:27 - 00:03:35:11
product up on the top right of the screen.

00:03:43:02 - 00:03:43:28
And that is basically

00:03:43:28 - 00:03:47:19
all you need to do that will now take you
to your MegaEdit product details

00:03:48:04 - 00:03:50:20
if you want to review the information
that's been imported

00:03:50:20 - 00:03:55:27
as part of the MEX file,
you can do so by clicking MEX import.

00:03:57:21 - 00:03:57:29
And what

00:03:57:29 - 00:04:01:25
you'll find is that a lot of the resources
that we'll need for our MegaEdit

00:04:01:25 - 00:04:06:04
products have automatically been created
for us from the Invent file.

00:04:06:21 - 00:04:10:12
So whereas if we're creating
a MegaEdit product manually,

00:04:10:26 - 00:04:13:29
you do need to create a canvas
and a stock and output type.

00:04:14:05 - 00:04:16:06
As we've seen in previous tutorials,

00:04:17:00 - 00:04:21:25
by importing an Invent file,
you get these automatically created

00:04:21:27 - 00:04:25:24
so you can see here that there's a canvas
being created, a stock item

00:04:26:03 - 00:04:29:03
and an output type
based on the specification

00:04:29:03 - 00:04:34:26
of our Invent file.

00:04:34:26 - 00:04:35:20
You can see as well that

00:04:35:20 - 00:04:39:00
there's other information being brought in
on the right hand side of the resources.

00:04:39:13 - 00:04:42:04
So things like fonts and clip art, data

00:04:45:03 - 00:04:47:05
and all that has been automatically linked

00:04:47:11 - 00:04:53:26
to our MegaEdit product.

00:04:53:26 - 00:04:56:08
So you can see that
the canvas has already been assigned

00:04:57:07 - 00:04:58:09
stock.

00:04:59:02 - 00:05:01:22
Any relevant clip arts

00:05:01:22 - 00:05:03:16
and so on.

00:05:04:02 - 00:05:07:02
From here
we can go ahead and launch our new product

00:05:10:28 - 00:05:12:27
and our exported Invent templates.

00:05:12:27 - 00:05:16:03
Whatever we've configured
will now be available

00:05:16:06 - 00:05:20:22
within MegaEdit.
