Setting up a Multi Product Custom Product | BG_013

This tutorial will explain how to set up a product which links to various additional "Child" products. It's possible to create a product landing page that has multiple products linked to it so rather than having multiple products pages across a category you could link several 'child' products to a 'Parent; product.  An example would be a Poster product where you have multiple sizes available A1, A2, A3 and A4 but have a 'Parent product' as Poster, and then your 'child' products are the sizes.

00:00:14:20 - 00:00:17:24
In this tutorial,
we'll explain how to set up a product

00:00:17:24 - 00:00:20:29
which links to various
additional child products.

00:00:21:08 - 00:00:24:18
So what we call at Infigo,
a multi product custom product.

00:00:25:24 - 00:00:27:19
So it's possible to create a product

00:00:27:19 - 00:00:31:11
landing page
that has multiple products linked to it.

00:00:31:11 - 00:00:34:12
So rather than having multiple product
pages

00:00:34:12 - 00:00:38:11
across a category or range of categories,
you could link

00:00:38:11 - 00:00:41:22
several child products
to one parent product.

00:00:42:24 - 00:00:45:28
So an example of this
could be for a poster, which is what

00:00:45:28 - 00:00:47:24
we'll do today,

00:00:48:06 - 00:00:50:23
where you could have multiple
different sizes available.

00:00:50:23 - 00:00:53:17
So a one, two, three and four and so on.

00:00:54:01 - 00:00:57:15
But then you would have a parent product
which is just called poster,

00:00:58:24 - 00:01:01:19
and then your child products
all the different sizes.

00:01:02:27 - 00:01:05:27
So firstly, we need to actually create
all of our products

00:01:06:05 - 00:01:09:05
that includes our parent product,
which in this case

00:01:09:05 - 00:01:11:12
is a custom poster

00:01:12:08 - 00:01:16:24
and our four child products,
a one, two, three and four.

00:01:17:10 - 00:01:21:00
All of these have just been set up
as basic stock products at this stage.

00:01:21:08 - 00:01:25:22
So again, you can add as much detail
to those as you like, but in this case,

00:01:25:22 - 00:01:29:04
we've not gone much further than applying
a name to the product

00:01:29:29 - 00:01:32:03
and you'll see that
they're all currently listed as stock.

00:01:32:14 - 00:01:34:23
And at present, there's no differentiation

00:01:34:23 - 00:01:38:25
in type or levels between those products
that we've specified.

00:01:38:26 - 00:01:44:28
They're all the same at this point.

00:01:44:28 - 00:01:51:01
So what we need to do next is to navigate
to the custom products screen

00:01:52:00 - 00:01:55:06
that's found under catalog

00:01:55:06 - 00:01:56:28
product types

00:01:57:03 - 00:01:59:15
and custom products.

00:01:59:15 - 00:02:04:07
Now, you may not see the custom product
tab in your version of Infigo.

00:02:04:20 - 00:02:08:00
You may need to raise a request
with the Help Desk to allow access

00:02:08:00 - 00:02:09:24
to this product type.

00:02:09:24 - 00:02:16:27
It's not always on by default.

00:02:16:27 - 00:02:20:06
Okay, so the screen we see here,
which is manage custom products,

00:02:20:09 - 00:02:24:02
that shows us all of the currently set up
custom products

00:02:24:02 - 00:02:26:18
for this particular storefront.

00:02:26:18 - 00:02:28:25
Custom products cover much more than just

00:02:28:25 - 00:02:31:20
the multi-product configuration
that we're talking about here.

00:02:32:16 - 00:02:36:23
There are some other types
of custom products that can be set up.

00:02:37:19 - 00:02:43:17
Those will be covered in other tutorials.

00:02:43:17 - 00:02:45:23
So you see at the moment
we have nothing defined in here.

00:02:45:23 - 00:02:47:19
So we're going to start with add new,

00:02:48:28 - 00:02:51:13
you'll see that
comes up with just a couple of options

00:02:51:21 - 00:02:54:28
where it's asking us
to choose the custom product type.

00:02:55:09 - 00:02:58:21
So these are the different types
of custom product that we can specify

00:02:59:12 - 00:03:00:00
in this case.

00:03:00:00 - 00:03:02:20
We want a multi product, custom product

00:03:04:02 - 00:03:08:04
and we need to choose the product
that's going to be our parent product.

00:03:08:21 - 00:03:12:03
So the one that's going to have
the different poster sizes on it,

00:03:12:08 - 00:03:15:14
which in this case is going to be
the custom poster

00:03:19:27 - 00:03:22:17
click, add new custom product,

00:03:22:17 - 00:03:27:08
then you'll be taken to this screen
which is asking you to define

00:03:27:27 - 00:03:32:03
the child products that you want attached
to that parent product.

00:03:32:23 - 00:03:33:14
So there's a list

00:03:33:14 - 00:03:37:07
of all of your available products
over on the left hand side of the screen.

00:03:37:07 - 00:03:40:11
You just need to select those
you can either individual click

00:03:40:23 - 00:03:45:15
or multi selects
by holding down the shift key.

00:03:45:15 - 00:03:48:27
Once you've selected all the ones
you want, click on this add button

00:03:49:08 - 00:03:56:23
and then they move over
to the assigned products list.

00:03:56:23 - 00:04:00:00
You'll see for each of those products
that we've sent over, there's now

00:04:00:00 - 00:04:03:27
a range of options that we can enter
if we wish to do so.

00:04:03:27 - 00:04:07:12
So we've got button
CSS. This allows you to

00:04:10:10 - 00:04:11:24
change the look

00:04:11:24 - 00:04:14:11
and feel of the button using CSS code.

00:04:15:02 - 00:04:16:23
We've got button translation key.

00:04:16:23 - 00:04:19:05
So that's a custom name for the button.

00:04:19:05 - 00:04:22:18
So that will be what displays
on the button itself within the storefront

00:04:24:13 - 00:04:27:08
or we have the or select
a button translation.

00:04:27:08 - 00:04:31:22
So these are presets selections to name
the button.

00:04:32:04 - 00:04:39:18
So non starts at the basket
or applied to pdf.

00:04:39:18 - 00:04:41:01
In this case we're just going to keep it

00:04:41:01 - 00:04:44:22
nice and simple, so we're just going
to give a button translation key,

00:04:45:12 - 00:04:47:12
which again is a name
that will show on the storefront,

00:04:48:03 - 00:04:50:29
which is the same as the paper size

00:04:52:27 - 00:05:01:15
that we're making this match to.

00:05:01:15 - 00:05:04:26
Once we're happy with those, we click save

00:05:05:19 - 00:05:08:25
and then we'll have a look at our products
on our storefront.

00:05:09:12 - 00:05:13:05
So I'm going to go to edit
the product variant

00:05:13:16 - 00:05:17:02
because on the product variant screen
as well as several other places,

00:05:17:12 - 00:05:24:05
you'll find a link
to directly view product page.

00:05:24:05 - 00:05:26:16
There you see our custom poster products.

00:05:26:17 - 00:05:28:15
There's not too much
defined on it at the moment.

00:05:28:15 - 00:05:30:17
We've not defined
any descriptions or anything.

00:05:31:04 - 00:05:34:22
But if you come over to the selector,
over on the right hand side,

00:05:34:22 - 00:05:37:28
you'll see we have these buttons here
relating to the different paper sizes.

00:05:38:19 - 00:05:43:10
So if I click on one of those it
why the take me directly to those products

00:05:43:18 - 00:05:48:12
or it will add that product to my basket.

00:05:48:12 - 00:05:52:14
Another note for this
The parent and child products must all use

00:05:52:14 - 00:05:55:23
the same pricing set up and be included

00:05:55:23 - 00:05:58:03
using the same product group.

00:05:58:24 - 00:05:59:19
So ultimately

00:05:59:19 - 00:06:03:23
the parent product will dictate the price
of all of the child products.

00:06:04:03 - 00:06:07:01
So it's imperative that they should
all share the same product group.

00:06:07:27 - 00:06:10:11
That's for accurate pricing
when you're adding to the cart.

00:06:10:21 - 00:06:14:05
Now, this is something that hasn't
been set up in this configuration so far,

00:06:15:28 - 00:06:20:07
so we'll
cover that in a different tutorial.

Multi Product Custom Product

This tutorial will explain how to set up a product which links to various additional "Child" products.

It's possible to create a product landing page that has multiple products linked to it so rather than having multiple products pages across a category you could link several 'child' products to a 'Parent; product.  An example would be a Poster product where you have multiple sizes available A1, A2, A3 and A4 but have a 'Parent product' as Poster, and then your 'child' products are the sizes.

NOTES:  The Parent and Child products must ALL use the same pricing setup and be included using the same product group.  Ultimately the Parent product will dictate the price of all the child products so it's imperative that they all share the same product group for accurate pricing when adding to cart.
