Infigo Academy: Creating departments to group your customers

 

Departments are a means of grouping your users together and giving them specific pathways and capabilities when using your storefront.

For example, users in a department may have access to only certain delivery or payment methods.

Departments can also be used in conjunction with Access Permissions to control who is allowed to view certain products.

 

This can be found by going to Customers > Departments

 

To add a new department click Add new record, then fill in the relevant information you need.

Don't forget to click Insert when done.

Name – Name of the department

Description – Description of the department

Cost Code – Cost code for the department

PL Code – PL code for the department

Email Sender – where the email will be sent to (this is not a required field when creating a department)

SMS Sender – where the SMS will be sent to (this is not a required field when creating a department)

 

To add all the department restrictions click on the + icon

 

Here you have a number of different options available

 -- Don’t forget to save any changes made using the Save Changes button for each section individually --

Customers – choose the customers you want to add to the department

Payment Methods - choose which payment methods customers in the department can use

Shipping Methods - choose which shipping methods customers in the department can use

Addresses - Choose which addresses customers in the department can use

Address Books - choose which address books the customer in the department can use

Please note for Payment Methods, if you have multiple payment methods and you only want some of them to show for each department then you will need to enable the Limit payment types by department setting.

Also note, if this setting is enabled then any customer NOT in a department will see NO payment methods at checkout.

      The videos are great but it would be really nice to have a text version of the content as well to make it easier to scroll and find only a portion that might be needed.
