Once any calendars, production restrictions and delivery restrictions have been specified, we need to define where they are being used. The calendars, as we have seen in other tutorials, are directly applied to the production and delivery restrictions.

Tutorial Video Transcript

00:00:07:12 - 00:00:09:25
So here we'll take a look at configuring
your storefront

00:00:09:25 - 00:00:13:06
to use production restrictions
and delivery restrictions.

00:00:13:25 - 00:00:18:09
So once any calendars, production
restrictions and delivery restrictions

00:00:18:09 - 00:00:22:05
have been specified, we need to define
where they're going to be used.

00:00:22:25 - 00:00:26:00
So production
restrictions are assigned to products

00:00:26:11 - 00:00:30:25
either within the product variant settings
or to entire product groups.

00:00:31:28 - 00:00:36:10
Delivery or shipping restrictions
are assigned to delivery methods.

00:00:36:10 - 00:00:40:04
And then the calendars, as we've seen
in other tutorials, are directly,

00:00:40:20 - 00:00:46:18
directly applied to the production
and delivery restrictions.

00:00:46:18 - 00:00:49:20
So first we’ll apply
our production restrictions

00:00:49:20 - 00:00:51:27
on a product by product basis.

00:00:51:27 - 00:00:56:28
I'm going to start by navigating to the
product variant settings of the product.

00:00:56:28 - 00:01:00:11
You wish to apply the restrictions to.

00:01:00:25 - 00:01:03:13
So I'm just going to go
into my product management

00:01:03:13 - 00:01:05:15
and I'm just going to create a new product
to begin with.

00:01:05:15 - 00:01:08:16
This isn't necessary,
but just to keep things nice and clean

00:01:09:04 - 00:01:12:17
on my own storefront.

00:01:12:17 - 00:01:14:06
From there,
I'm going to go into the product

00:01:14:06 - 00:01:23:15
variant settings,
make sure I'm on the info tab,

00:01:24:28 - 00:01:30:05
then scroll down.

00:01:30:05 - 00:01:35:00
What you'll find quite close to the bottom
of the available settings is a section

00:01:35:00 - 00:01:39:05
which says Enable delivery,
Countdown and production restriction.

00:01:39:18 - 00:01:42:07
So from here
you can select from the list of available

00:01:42:07 - 00:01:44:13
production restrictions
that you've specified

00:01:46:14 - 00:01:47:23
and that will now be assigned

00:01:47:23 - 00:01:53:11
to that particular product.

00:01:53:11 - 00:01:55:25
You also have this enable
delivery countdown,

00:01:56:08 - 00:01:59:09
which will show the countdown view
within the product page.

00:01:59:20 - 00:02:01:27
So this will actually show, for example,

00:02:03:09 - 00:02:06:09
how long the user has to order before

00:02:07:13 - 00:02:10:00
delivery gets pushed back
an additional day, for example,

00:02:10:16 - 00:02:13:03
or it will show how long
we have to order to meet

00:02:13:03 - 00:02:16:07
a particular delivery date

00:02:16:07 - 00:02:18:05
and we'll see this on a frontend
in a few minutes

00:02:18:05 - 00:02:22:02
time.

00:02:22:02 - 00:02:25:17
From there,
make sure you save those changes.

00:02:25:17 - 00:02:28:16
Next, we're going to navigate
to delivery computation

00:02:29:23 - 00:02:30:16
or shipping

00:02:30:16 - 00:02:34:17
computation depending on your region.

00:02:34:17 - 00:02:38:19
And now we're going to actually apply
the delivery of shipping restrictions

00:02:38:19 - 00:02:42:19
that we created in a previous tutorial.

00:02:42:19 - 00:02:45:21
So we're going to choose the

00:02:45:21 - 00:02:48:05
computation method that we have available.

00:02:48:05 - 00:02:51:25
In this case, it's a basic storefront,
so I've just got fixed rate shipping

00:02:52:07 - 00:02:57:01
and I'm going to go to usage rules.

00:02:57:01 - 00:03:00:27
And then from within here you can see that
we have a delivery restriction dropdown

00:03:00:27 - 00:03:04:25
box where I can choose
between the delivery restriction

00:03:04:25 - 00:03:07:29
methods that I have available

00:03:08:06 - 00:03:17:19
and then make sure you click save.

00:03:17:19 - 00:03:20:11
So now we'll see how this appears
on the frontend

00:03:20:21 - 00:03:24:11
when we're actually placing an order.

00:03:25:19 - 00:03:29:24
What we can see based on those settings
I've applied is a very simple

00:03:29:24 - 00:03:32:23
landing page here because it's
a brand newly created product,

00:03:33:10 - 00:03:35:22
but we now have this delivery countdown.

00:03:35:22 - 00:03:40:23
So I specified my cutoff time as 3 p.m.

00:03:40:23 - 00:03:44:02
local time and the time of the moment
is just before 2 p.m.

00:03:44:02 - 00:03:45:17
when recording this video.

00:03:45:17 - 00:03:48:06
So you can see that
I've got just over an hour to order within

00:03:48:14 - 00:03:55:11
to receive this particular date.

00:03:55:11 - 00:04:05:13
However, if I change the quantity
being ordered, you can see that

00:04:05:14 - 00:04:11:18
the date has been updated as well based
on those quantity tiers that I specified.

00:04:11:29 - 00:04:15:24
So based on this particular quantity,
it falls into a specific tier

00:04:16:05 - 00:04:20:05
and my production offset
may be pushed out slightly

00:04:20:14 - 00:04:24:22
so we can see
the date is automatically changed.

00:04:24:22 - 00:04:29:20
I'm not going to go ahead and add that
to basket and proceed through my checkout.

00:04:30:21 - 00:04:32:28
So back to viewing this
as an administrator,

00:04:32:28 - 00:04:35:29
the first place I'm going to go is shared
print operations

00:04:36:26 - 00:04:38:26
and I'm going to go ahead
and find that job

00:04:39:01 - 00:04:41:02
within shared print operations.

00:04:41:02 - 00:04:44:15
Scrolling down, you can see
we've got this shipping information

00:04:45:00 - 00:04:47:25
and included in there,
we have the dispatch date

00:04:47:25 - 00:04:52:10
and delivery date for the order
and for the line item.

00:04:53:03 - 00:04:56:26
And this is calculated based on those
delivery and production restrictions

00:04:57:01 - 00:05:01:01
that we created
and applied to that particular product.

00:05:02:15 - 00:05:04:21
Now, in many cases,
you may want to understand

00:05:04:21 - 00:05:08:15
in greater detail
how these are being calculated,

00:05:08:15 - 00:05:11:08
and we can do this from within the admin
area as well.

00:05:11:28 - 00:05:16:08
So if I'm going to navigate to my sales
section and then to orders

00:05:17:14 - 00:05:19:16
locate the order that we've just placed

00:05:19:16 - 00:05:22:04
and I'm going to click on View
next to that particular order.

00:05:23:15 - 00:05:26:09
Now if I scroll
right down to the bottom of that page,

00:05:27:07 - 00:05:29:23
you may need to expand the box slightly.

00:05:30:04 - 00:05:32:29
But what you'll see in here

00:05:33:09 - 00:05:34:17
is a body of text,

00:05:34:17 - 00:05:37:12
which kind of makes a human
readable element

00:05:39:11 - 00:05:42:23
and shows us
how exactly those dispatch dates

00:05:43:03 - 00:05:47:04
and delivery dates have been calculated.

00:05:47:04 - 00:05:50:15
So you can see there it's got information
on the delivery restrictions.

00:05:50:15 - 00:05:54:11
You can see that it's
given us a total of ten days for delivery.

00:05:54:11 - 00:05:57:03
In this case, we have a three day offset

00:05:57:14 - 00:05:59:23
and we have seven days skipped.

00:06:00:04 - 00:06:03:17
Now this will take into account
the calendar

00:06:03:27 - 00:06:07:02
that we've been utilizing
as well as well as the weekends.

00:06:07:29 - 00:06:13:01
So that's why
we've got such a high number of set dates.

00:06:13:01 - 00:06:17:14
Then you can see we have production
restrictions, so we have a total of two

00:06:17:14 - 00:06:20:15
days.

00:06:20:15 - 00:06:22:16
Zero of those are skip days

00:06:24:24 - 00:06:27:11
from the
weekend and zero from the calendar.

00:06:27:11 - 00:06:33:01
So that's just our
general production offset.

Configuring your storefront to use production restrictions and delivery restrictions

Once any calendars, production restrictions and delivery restrictions have been specified, we need to define where they are being used.

Production restrictions are assigned to products (within the product variant settings) or to product groups.

Delivery/Shipping restrictions are assigned to delivery methods.

The calendars, as we have seen in other tutorials, are directly applied to the production and delivery restrictions.
