How to Apply your MegaEdit Variables and Seeing Them in Action

This tutorial explains how to apply Mega-Edit Variables to multiple Mega-Edit products in Infigo, enabling fields such as text and images to stay linked across different products. By assigning the same variable set to multiple products, updates made in one product—like uploading an image or adding styled text—can automatically carry over to others, including their thumbnails. You’ll also see how variable behavior works in practice, such as with the interlinked session context, where previously saved values remain intact for items already in the basket, but new products adopt the latest values. This setup is ideal for ensuring consistency across linked products while maintaining flexibility for future changes.

0:00 Hi, welcome to the infigo academy. In this video, we'll be showing you how to apply your mega-edit variables to multiple mega-edit products, including variable behavior and product thumbnail behavior.
0:12 Watch our how to create mega-edit variables video to get started. Now that you have your variable sets created, you want to start applying them to some mega-edit products.
0:21 In this example, we'll be showing you the behavior between two mega-edit products, but as mentioned in the previous video this can be applied to an unlimited amount of products.
0:32 First, ensure you have a couple of mega-edit products created on your platform. Open up the mega-edit configuration section for both of these products, and under the Variables tab, assign the relevant variable set and click Save.
0:49 Once completed, log into your storefront as a user with admin permissions. This is so you can access the Advanced Details tab within the mega-editor for specific fields like image and text.
1:00 On the Editor page for both of these products, add an image and a text field. Under the Advanced Details tab for both of these fields, assign the relevant image variable and text variable.
1:11 You'll see the variable items drop down only shows variables related to that field type. So, for an image field, you'll only see the image variable types in the drop down.
1:22 Please note, if you want to apply text styling within the text field, you'll need to add a text value and apply the relevant styling before saving the product as default.
1:31 If you don't apply the text styling before saving the product as default, the styling will not translate correctly into the product image thumbnail.
1:44 Repeat the same process for both mega-edit products and ensure you've saved both of them as product default. Now that you've completed the variable setup on the mega-edit products, we can start looking into the variable behavior.
1:58 Since you're already in the editor page, upload an image into the image field and add some text into the text field if you haven't already in the previous steps.
2:11 Check the preview to ensure it suits your needs and then add the product to the basket. Navigate to the landing page for the second mega-edit product and you'll see the thumbnail is updated correctly based on the new field values.
2:41 This is because we've linked the image and the text fields together using the exact same mega-edit variables. You can add to the basket like this or if you want to change the values, you can.
3:02 Since we set the context type to interlinked session, the previous product we added to the basket will retain the values you've added, but any future products will adopt any new values you add right now.
3:21 So if we add new values into both fields, add the product to the basket and repeat the same process by opening another mega edit product with the same variables linked, you'll see they adopt the new values you've just added successfully, as you can see here.
3:35 And this applies to all of the mega-edit products you've saved these variables to. That's all for this video, see you in the next one.
