If you’re using Printess with Infigo, you can now have your print-ready files copied straight into a production hotfolder as soon as they’re generated.
In practice, this means:
This works for digital Printess products, base Printess products and dynamic products.
What is a hotfolder?
A hotfolder is just a folder that your production software is watching.
Whenever a new file appears in that folder, your workflow or RIP automatically:
With the new Auto Copy To Hotfolder support for Printess, Infigo can now drop the print files into that folder for you.
What this new option does
When you turn on auto copy for Printess:
-
You design the product in Printess as usual and place your order in Infigo.
-
Infigo generates the Printess output files (your print-ready artwork).
-
As soon as the output is ready, Infigo automatically copies those files to your configured hotfolder.
This applies to:
You still see the usual order and output information in Infigo – you just don’t have to move the files yourself.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- The Printess Product Type enabled in the Infigo Admin Area Settings

If you’re not sure which folder your production team is using, ask them which path their system is watching for new files.
Step 1: Enable auto copy to hotfolder in Infigo
In your Infigo admin:
-
Open Infigo Settings.
-
Look for the setting named something like Auto Copy To Hotfolder (Custom) or similar (this is the new option for Printess outputs).
-
Enable the setting and save.

If you have a place in your integration settings to define the target hotfolder location, make sure that path is set correctly and that the Infigo server has permission to write to it.
Step 2: Test with a Printess product
To confirm everything works, run a simple end-to-end test.
First, pick a Printess product in your store (for example one of the following types):
Then:
-
Open the product in your storefront.
-
Design it in Printess and add it to the basket.
-
Go to checkout and place the order.
-
Wait for the output to be generated (as you normally would).
Once the output is ready, check your production hotfolder:
If you also use dynamic Printess products, repeat the same process for one of those and confirm that those outputs are also being copied into your hotfolder.
How this behaves for day-to-day orders
After you’ve switched it on, the workflow for your users doesn’t really change:
They design in Printess, add to basket and place an order in Infigo, just as before.
Behind the scenes:
-
Infigo generates the print files for the Printess product.
-
Those files are copied to your chosen hotfolder.
-
Your production system automatically picks them up and starts processing.
You can still access outputs from Infigo if you need to re-download or troubleshoot, but the standard day-to-day process becomes hands-off.
Things to keep an eye on
A few practical tips:
-
Make sure the hotfolder path is correct and accessible from Infigo – if permissions are wrong, files can’t be copied.
-
If your workflow software moves or deletes files after processing, that’s fine – Infigo only needs to copy them in once.
-
If you rename or relocate your production hotfolder later, remember to update your Infigo configuration to match.
Once this is set up, your Printess jobs can flow smoothly from online design to your production system without any manual file handling in the middle.
