MegaEdit SVG Field

MegaEdit now includes a dedicated SVG Shape field, letting customers place vector shapes on the canvas and recolour them per element without touching any raw markup. Three base shapes - circle, rectangle and triangle - are available out of the box, and storefronts can grow their own libraries by uploading SVGs to User Media and Clipart categories.

Incomplete

MegaEdit supports a dedicated SVG Shape field, letting customers drag vector shapes straight onto the canvas and recolour them per element. Three base shapes - circle, rectangle and triangle - ship out of the box, and administrators can build custom shape libraries by uploading SVGs to User Media and Clipart categories. Dropped shapes are created as General Shape fields, so they carry the full set of visual controls - move, scale, rotate, colour and tiling - without any markup editing.

Environment

  • Any MegaEdit storefront. Available to all.

  • Administrators apply the SVG Shape Field script from the Infigo admin area - globally on the MegaEdit Scripts page, or per product from the Scripts tab when editing that product's MegaEdit settings.

Configuration

Step 1: Enable Allow SVG uploads

Open the MegaEdit Product Settings page (Settings tab) and find the Allow SVG uploads setting. When on, SVG files can be uploaded to media albums and clipart categories and dropped into the editor as shape fields; when it is off, the SVG file type is hidden from upload pickers and SVG uploads are rejected. It is on by default. Tick the box (if it is not already) and save the page.

Step 2: Apply the SVG Shape Field script

The SVG Shape Field is delivered as a MegaEdit script and is available to all storefronts. You can apply it in two ways:

  • Globally: open the MegaEdit Scripts page and apply the SVG Shape Field script so it is available across your products.

  • Per product: when editing a product's MegaEdit settings in the Infigo admin, open the Scripts tab and apply the SVG Shape Field script to that product.

Products launched with the script applied will have the new SVG Shape fields available in the editor.

On deployment, SVG is registered as a permitted upload file type at platform level, and the SVG Shape Field script is made available to all storefronts for global or per-product application.

Closing note

Existing products can have the SVG Shape Field script applied at any time - globally from the MegaEdit Scripts page, or per product from the Scripts tab in that product's MegaEdit settings. If you need help enabling the feature, contact Infigo Customer Support.
