0:00 Impersonating a customer
0:03 Impersonate lets you use your storefront as one of your customers. You see their catalogue, prices and basket, and you can place orders for them.
0:12 You start from the customer list in the admin area, with the Impersonate button on the customer's row.
0:19 The storefront opens as that customer. The icon next to My Account shows that you're impersonating.
0:26 Categories, products and prices follow the customer's own set-up, so you can check what they can order.
0:33 When you're done, Finish Impersonation in the account menu takes you back to the admin area.
0:40 It simulates the customer's session, rather than copying their exact screen, so a few things can look different. The step-by-step guide on this page explains the details.

0:00 Impersonate a customer
0:03 In this tutorial we'll impersonate a customer: open the storefront as them, check what they see, and return to the admin area.
0:11 Go to Customers, then Customer Management. Search for the customer, for example by email, and click Impersonate on their row. If the button is greyed out, your role isn't allowed to impersonate that customer.
0:24 You can also edit the customer, open the Place order tab, and click Place order. It starts the same session.
0:32 The storefront opens as the customer. The small icon next to My Account shows that you're impersonating someone.
0:40 Open My Account. The first entry is the customer's name, and Finish Impersonation sits just below it.
0:47 Browse as normal. Categories, products and prices follow the customer's roles and department.
0:54 The basket is the customer's own. You can add products and check out to place an order for them.
1:01 When you're done, open My Account and click Finish Impersonation to return to your own session.
1:07 Optionally, in Customer Settings, tick Add impersonator email to BCC on order notifications, to get a copy of order emails for orders you place.
1:17 Remember that impersonation simulates the customer's session. Things tied to their own sign-in, device or browser can look different, so if something only goes wrong for them, ask for a screenshot.
