Multi-version product ordering with Multipart (Upload) products | BG_050

In this tutorial, we'll learn how to utilise functionality within Infigo allowing for multiple versions of the same Multipart type product to be created and placed into the basket at once. In the world of labels, it's common for customers to need multiple versions of the same label, such as different designs for various types of wine. Currently, in Infigo, you can achieve this by adding individual jobs to the basket for each label version. However, this process can be tedious when dealing with numerous labels. Moreover, it may end up costing the customer more. For instance, if you're ordering 1000 labels, the unit cost is often lower than ordering 250 labels. So, if you want 250 labels for four different wine types, it's more cost-effective to order 1000 labels and specify the different versions rather than ordering four sets of 250 labels individually. This approach not only streamlines the ordering process but also offers potential cost savings for our customers. Here, we'll see how to enable and utilise this functionality.

00:00:08:04 - 00:00:08:14
In this

00:00:08:14 - 00:00:11:26
tutorial will learn how to utilize
functionality within Infigo,

00:00:11:26 - 00:00:16:03
allowing for multiple versions
of the same multipart type product

00:00:16:05 - 00:00:20:09
to be created
and placed into a basket at once.

00:00:20:11 - 00:00:22:08
So some context on why we have this.

00:00:22:08 - 00:00:25:20
In the world of labels,
primarily it's common for customers

00:00:25:20 - 00:00:28:20
to need multiple versions
of the same product,

00:00:28:25 - 00:00:31:21
such as different designs
of various types of wine.

00:00:31:21 - 00:00:33:16
For example,

00:00:33:16 - 00:00:36:06
currently in Infigo,
you can achieve this by adding

00:00:36:06 - 00:00:39:26
individual jobs to the basket
for each label version.

00:00:39:29 - 00:00:44:28
However, this process can be tedious
when dealing with numerous labels.

00:00:45:01 - 00:00:48:09
Moreover,
it may end up costing the customer more.

00:00:48:12 - 00:00:54:00
For instance, if you're offering
1000 labels, the unit cost is often lower

00:00:54:03 - 00:00:56:15
than ordering 250 labels.

00:00:56:15 - 00:01:01:17
So if you want 250 labels
for four different wine types, it's

00:01:01:17 - 00:01:06:04
more cost effective to offer 1000 labels
and specify the different versions

00:01:06:06 - 00:01:11:01
rather than ordering
four sets of 250 labels individually.

00:01:11:04 - 00:01:13:29
This approach
not only streamlines the ordering process,

00:01:13:29 - 00:01:19:03
but also offers
potential cost savings to our customers.

00:01:19:05 - 00:01:21:14
So in
this tutorial, we'll see how to enable

00:01:21:14 - 00:01:28:17
and utilize this functionality.

00:01:28:19 - 00:01:29:19
So we're going to begin

00:01:29:19 - 00:01:32:27
by creating a new multipart type product.

00:01:33:00 - 00:01:35:12
Now, at the time this content was created,

00:01:35:12 - 00:01:39:17
the multipart is the only product type
that supports this feature.

00:01:39:20 - 00:01:43:20
So I've just come to create a new product,
make sure it's multipart

00:01:43:22 - 00:01:47:05
and click on Create.

00:01:47:07 - 00:01:49:27
Now activating
this functionality is actually really

00:01:49:27 - 00:01:51:18
straightforward and simple.

00:01:51:18 - 00:01:53:05
All we need to do is go to the product

00:01:53:05 - 00:01:57:01
variant tab of the product
that's just opened

00:01:57:03 - 00:01:57:14
back on.

00:01:57:14 - 00:02:01:01
Edit That will take us to the product
variant options

00:02:01:03 - 00:02:06:24
and we're just looking for this
enable versioning option here.

00:02:06:27 - 00:02:09:03
Just activate that

00:02:09:03 - 00:02:10:16
and then save the product.

00:02:10:16 - 00:02:13:24
remember, you can still apply
additional details for the product

00:02:13:24 - 00:02:19:06
such as attributes for each product
version you create as a storefront user.

00:02:19:14 - 00:02:21:23
These attributes will remain the same.

00:02:21:23 - 00:02:29:20
It's only the specified artwork that's going to change based on this functionality.

00:02:29:22 - 00:02:30:19
So let's say that's it.

00:02:30:19 - 00:02:33:19
For this basic example,
configuration is done.

00:02:33:26 - 00:02:38:04
All we need to do now is actually see
this product and functionality in action.

00:02:38:06 - 00:02:46:27
So I'm just going to click on View
Product page.

00:02:46:29 - 00:02:47:21
So what you can see

00:02:47:21 - 00:02:51:11
on your product page now
this version's functionality is active.

00:02:51:13 - 00:02:56:10
This is a new box available
with several additional options.

00:02:56:12 - 00:02:59:06
First, we want to select how many versions

00:02:59:06 - 00:03:02:12
that we wish to actually create.

00:03:02:14 - 00:03:05:27
Now we can always add more
or remove some later on in the process.

00:03:06:03 - 00:03:10:18
For now,
I'm just going to specify three versions

00:03:10:20 - 00:03:13:02
and you can see that
when I input that number, it creates

00:03:13:02 - 00:03:14:20
some new versions for me.

00:03:14:20 - 00:03:22:23
I've also got the ability to add extra
versions at the bottom of the screen here

00:03:22:25 - 00:03:24:27
so it can input some required data.

00:03:24:27 - 00:03:27:08
So we've got the names of the versions
here.

00:03:27:08 - 00:03:29:18
We can leave
those as just version one, two and three

00:03:29:18 - 00:03:32:26
if we wish, or we can rename them
to something more relevant.

00:03:32:29 - 00:03:35:29
And then we have the quantity
specifications.

00:03:36:01 - 00:03:40:20
So this is the quantity of each version
that the customer is wishing to order.

00:03:40:23 - 00:03:51:14
So I'll just give a few names to these
and a few different quantities

00:03:51:16 - 00:03:54:05
with that information input,
we want to go ahead and upload

00:03:54:05 - 00:03:57:23
the relevant PDFs
to do with each of those versions.

00:03:57:25 - 00:04:00:24
So if I go next to one of these
and click on upload,

00:04:00:24 - 00:04:04:05
that will open up a separate screen,
which allows me to control

00:04:04:07 - 00:04:08:05
the details
of each of those different versions.

00:04:08:08 - 00:04:11:10
So you can see at the top of the screen
again, we can change the quantities

00:04:11:10 - 00:04:16:18
and the names of the versions, but
also we can select between the versions

00:04:16:21 - 00:04:21:17
and it's giving us a little negative minus
icon and a red text

00:04:21:19 - 00:04:26:29
to sort of tell us that is not complete,
that is still requiring PDF.

00:04:27:01 - 00:04:27:09
And if

00:04:27:09 - 00:04:30:09
you click on each one of these,
it will change the specification

00:04:30:10 - 00:04:34:06
so that we're changing
that particular version.

00:04:34:08 - 00:04:36:24
So what we need to do
is go to these different versions

00:04:36:24 - 00:04:52:12
and then upload the relevant PDF.

00:04:52:14 - 00:04:53:06
With that done,

00:04:53:06 - 00:04:57:18
you can see that all the version

00:04:57:20 - 00:05:00:12
labels within the dropdown list
are now registering

00:05:00:12 - 00:05:04:16
as correct
that green and there's a tick icon.

00:05:04:19 - 00:05:08:01
So with that done we can go ahead,
make sure you click save and close

00:05:08:01 - 00:05:10:29
or you can click on the cross button
next to it

00:05:10:29 - 00:05:13:29
to get back to that
main product landing page.

00:05:14:01 - 00:05:17:02
And we can see there that we now
have details in all of those different

00:05:17:06 - 00:05:25:10
versions.

00:05:25:13 - 00:05:32:05
Once that's done,
we can go ahead and click on Add to Basket

00:05:32:08 - 00:05:32:20
and then a

00:05:32:20 - 00:05:35:23
summary of that product is displayed
within the basket.

00:05:35:23 - 00:05:39:02
So we can see that it's showing us
the one particular product,

00:05:39:08 - 00:05:43:09
it's showing us the total quantity
and it would show us the total price.

00:05:43:12 - 00:05:47:05
However, we could go ahead and expand this
to see the different versions

00:05:47:05 - 00:05:53:24
of that product contained within it.

00:05:53:27 - 00:05:56:27
Now I'm just going to quickly proceed
through the checkout process

00:05:57:02 - 00:05:59:05
and we'll take a look at what
your customer

00:05:59:05 - 00:06:02:08
and you as the administrator,
see when an order is

00:06:02:08 - 00:06:07:14
placed in this fashion.

00:06:07:16 - 00:06:09:27
So for my customer perspective,
if I go to their

00:06:09:27 - 00:06:14:14
My orders page,

00:06:14:16 - 00:06:15:14
take a look at the order

00:06:15:14 - 00:06:18:29
that they've just placed,

00:06:19:01 - 00:06:22:01
we can see that it is showing
all the different versions

00:06:22:01 - 00:06:28:09
of those labels
as separate jobs within the order.

00:06:28:12 - 00:06:30:09
Similarly, if I go to shared

00:06:30:09 - 00:06:34:27
print operations
in the administrator area,

00:06:35:00 - 00:06:38:00
we can see that each of those

00:06:38:03 - 00:06:41:11
versions that we've uploaded
have been granted their own separate

00:06:41:16 - 00:06:43:29
line,
their own set as their own separate job

00:06:43:29 - 00:06:47:07
within shared print operations,
so we can handle the more individually.
