Dynamic Products (Invent)

Quick facts
Level: Intermediate
Estimated time: 3 hours
Last updated: 31/3/2026

Invent is Infigo’s plugin for Adobe InDesign. It lets you take an InDesign artwork file and turn it into a dynamic (configurable) product template by defining things like resources, variables, forms, and logic inside InDesign, then exporting a MEX file that you import into MegaEdit on your Infigo storefront (where your customers actually personalise the product).

This pathway teaches you how Invent (InDesign plugin) and MegaEdit (browser-based editor) work together to create and launch dynamic, customer-personalisable products in Infigo, starting with the concepts, then installation, then Invent fundamentals, and finally exporting/importing an Invent template into a live MegaEdit product.

What you’ll learn

By the end, a learner should be able to:

- Explain what Invent is (InDesign plugin) and why it exists (rapid creation of dynamic templates that become MegaEdit products).

- Understand the handoff model: Invent → export MEX → import into Infigo → customer personalises in MegaEdit.

- Install and launch the Invent plugin inside InDesign.

- Navigate Invent fundamentals (resources/variables/forms orientation) well enough to follow deeper tutorials and build workflows.

- Create a basic Invent-driven MegaEdit product and validate it on storefront.

Who this is for

Best suited for:

- Infigo Admins / Implementers who build and maintain configurable products.

- Template builders / designers / prepress teams who prefer working in InDesign and want to convert artwork into storefront-ready dynamic products without rebuilding everything from scratch.

Prerequisites

- Completion of the Infigo Core learning path.

- Basic understanding of Infigo product setup and what a MegaEdit product is.

- Basic familiarity with MegaEdit (or readiness to take the included crash course).

- Adobe InDesign installed and permissions to install plugins/extensions.
