Overview
The Layout Manager allows you to add and remove content to and from your storefront.
This is done by making use of what we call "Containers" and "Modules".
Containers
A container is simply a pre-designated section of your page's structure that you can add or remove modules to and from.
The PDF found here serves as a guide for how the containers are laid out in your storefront.
When referencing the guide, please make sure that you use the correct type of layout (1 column or 2 column). This is explained further in our "How to change your layout" article.
To serve as a good point of reference, the "MainContainer" will always contain the automatically generated content for the page, and will be different depending on which page you are on. For example, a product page will have the product information within the MainContainer, a category page will have all its products and subcategories within the MainContainer etc.
Modules
Each module is effectively a block of content that you can add to a container. This can be anything from a search box to a block of your custom-written HTML (see more on this in our "Editable Content" article).
Adding Content
When adding content, it is important to note that you are adding the content to the currently selected layout not the current page.
This means that if you are adding it to a layout that is shared across multiple page groups, you will see the same content appear across all page groups that use this layout. This is once again explained further in our "How to change your layout" article.
To add content, follow the steps below:
- As a storefront administrator, open the layout manager by clicking on the icon in the bottom-left of your screen:

- Select the container you want to add the module into

- Select the module you want to add

- Click "Add module to container"

- The page will refresh, and the module will be added to the page

Each module you add will be added to the end of the container, so if you have a specific order you would like the modules to appear in, ensure that you are adding them in that order.
Removing Content
To remove modules from their containers, follow the steps below:
- As a storefront administrator, open the layout manager by clicking on the icon in the bottom-left of your screen:

- Click "Toggle Layout Mode"

- Once the page has refreshed, click "Remove" on the tab for the module you would like to remove

- The page will refresh again, and the module will have been removed
